So, here's the story. I purchased this car from the original owner in Ames, IA last summer, who used it as her daily driver. It had a hair over 66k miles when I bought it. The car has every maintenance record from its entire life, original window sticker, accessories brochure, OEM floor mats, and even the original badge that reads 'Honda of Ames' on the back. Upon getting it home and reading through the catalog of records, I found that it never had a timing belt done. That was remedied really quick by a local shop with a Gates timing belt and water pump kit. Oil was changed to Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic and a new WIX filter installed. New Denso Iridium plugs were changed and new Denso plug wires were fitted as the originals were a tad crunchy. Soon thereafter, the collapsed original suspension was replaced with new KYB units. As a result, the car now sits 2 inches higher than when I bought it originally and ride quality is much improved. The original sealed beams were replaced with new brighter sealed beams to keep the vintage aesthetic andare much brighter than the old sealed beams. I have added a cassette deck from a 2001 Honda Insight, along with new Pioneer speakers in the doors and Pioneer 6x9's in the rear hatch. Part of me will always be 16 and I need my tunes. Transmission fluid changed with owner's manual specific Dexron II. Shifts smooth. New Hankook tires fitted to replace Michelins that were from 1995. Sure, it might not be in any Collection Hall, but what you do get is a cherry example of a first year car, with the bigger 1500cc motor and an automatic. It's not a museum piece, but a fine example of a great old Honda, who has dutifully served both of its owners.

Interior is in fine shape. Black carpet and cloth seats and no cracking on the dash. As I've experienced with other Japanese cars of this vintage, when hot outside, the steering wheel and shifter are a bit sticky, and I think it is a result of the plastic used in the construction. The hatch area is clean, light works, and the spare is concealed by flawless carpet. The fiberboard piece underneath that covers the tire is perished in spots, which look to me as if the previous owner was too vigorous removing it and tore a piece off. It doesn't affect use, but something one might want to know.

Body wise, the car is very straight. There is one tiny spot of rust by the wheel well, but I don't believe it is all the way through the metal yet. A dent adorns the deck lid by the dealership badge. The front fenders are original OEM plastic units, but there are two cracks in one side and one crack in the other. The front nose is an aftermarket unit painted by the original owner sometime way before I owned the car. The door stay on the driver's side has detached from the inner fender and neither I nor the previous owner fixed. I imagine a body shop could do the work relatively easy. All in all, the original owners were very careful with the care and maintenance of the CRX.
