** LOTS OF PHOTOS AFTER DESCRIPTION **
Up for sale is my 1991 Honda Civic Wagon RT4WD "Wagovan" or Shuttle as its called in Japan. The ad is long but I have tried to put in as much detail as I can, just as I would want to see If I was buying the car. I purchased this Cappuccino Brown Metallic wagon in March of 2016 from a private owner in Fairmont, WV with 188,400 miles after a long search for a clean, original example. This car, runs, drives, and looks like a car with half the miles and has many more miles left in it. The previous owner was an adult enthusiast who had the car shipped back with him from California. In both mine and the previous owner's ownership, the car has never been driven in the winter (Only a handful of times in the rain) and has always been stored inside a heated garage covered when not in use. Since I have owned this wagon, it has not only brought a smile to my face but to almost everyone who sees it (Including my local Honda dealer). Hard to believe a 90s Honda can be a head turner.

Just before I purchased the car, the previous owner had done the following (All Honda parts when possible):
  • Complete new OEM exhaust system including all pipework, catalytic converter, O2 sensors, and muffler (Honda no longer produces the mufflers; Dealer had recommended Bosal as OEM equivalent).
  • OEM Front brake rotors, OEM front brake pads, OEM rear drums, & OEM rear shoes
  • OEM radiator and coolant flush
  • Installed (4)- New General Tires
  • Had all (4) wheels powder coated black.
After I purchased the car, at 191K miles I performed the following with OEM Honda parts using Honda factory service manual:
  • Installed a new timing belt (Preventative Maintenance)
  • New timing belt tensioner
  • New water pump
  • Adjusted the valves per factory spec.
  • New valve cover gasket
  • New accessory belts
  • Changed engine coolant (Honda Coolant)
  • Changed transmission fluid (Honda Fluid)
  • Changed power steering fluid (Honda Fluid)
  • Changed rear differential fluid (Honda Fluid)
  • Changed engine oil and filter (Honda oil and filter)
  • Rotated Tires
  • Had the car undercoated by Krown ( Preventative only; Never driven in winter; Non- drying coating like Fluid Film; Common in Canada to prevent rust - Check it out great stuff)
At 200k miles I did the following items (w/ OEM Honda Parts):
  • New distributor cap
  • New distributor rotor
  • New NGK spark plug wires
  • New NGK spark plugs
Engine oil and filter has been changedreligiously every 3,000 miles with Honda 5W-30 oil and Honda oil filters.
This wagon runs, shifts, and drives very well for its age. The 1.6 engine (same engine as used in SI of the same year) starts right up with no unusual noises, smoke, or excessive valve train noise. All check engine and warning lights work as they should ; None are on. Engine idle does have a nearly imperceptible irregularity to it. It is not visible on the tachometer and it is typical (in my experience) with all older Hondas (My 1st generation CRV has the same traits). Not so much a problem but want to give full disclosure. Engine has no hesitation and runs smoothly at all RPMS. The transmission shifts firmly and smoothly through every gear. Four wheel drive engages and disengages as it should. The suspension is tight and rides as it should. Car drives smoothly and is a joy to drive in the city or the highway. Car drives straight with no vibrations at speed. All exterior and interior lighting work as they should. The neat automatic front seat belt system works smoothly without any glitches. Interior clock works and holds time as it should. Brakes work as they should however rear brakes may need adjusted in the future. Emergency brake engages and disengages as it should.
As far as cosmetics, this Honda presents very well. Please see photos for more details. The car is regularly hand washed, dried, waxed, and detailed. The paint holds an excellent shine. No cracks in glass. All plastic and rubber present well. There are misc. chips, dings, and blemishes in the paintwork as is expected of a car that is 26 years old but nothing excessive. Of note, at one time the car had a roof rack and there are some rub marks from where the rack mounts sat on the roof. Again, not excessive but in full disclosure. As far as the interior, the dash has no cracks and no excessive fading. Upholstery presents very well with no tears or stains. Seats were covered in both mine and previous owner's ownership but were removed for photos. There are light scuffs on some of the interior plastics but nothing excessive. Carpets do not show any discoloration and headliner doesn't have any sagging. Of note, drivers side visor has slight tear along seam but does not affect function and can't be seen unless flipped down. Radio is not original but is a functional aftermarket item installed by previous owner.
The underside of this car is typical of cars from California ; Rust free and clean. The car does not leak any fluids ( Parked on concrete in garage; never seen a drop). Look through the photos for more details. You can still see the factory chalk / paint marks in the photos. The underside still wears the factory undercoating. The sheen you see on some surfaces is the non-drying Krown undercoating; not any vital fluids. No rot or major rust of any kind. There is some very slight rust on bolt heads and the exhaust but no real rust.
Overall, this is a very clean, nearly original Honda Civic Wagon that has been well cared for and maintained. This car has not been subjected to pot holes, winter roads, or abusive drivers. As such, it runs, drives, and looks like a car with many fewer miles on the odometer. This was a car I always wanted to own and had hoped to keep forever. Many people cannot remember the last time they have seen one and it gets thumbs up everywhere it goes. Unfortunately as many people know, life changes and I need to buy a truck for an upcoming home purchase. I want to be as transparent as possible, so please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. If you have any questions or would like to see the car in person, please contact me through the Ebay messaging service and we can set something up. I am a private seller not a dealer.
Please review the photos listed in the ad for the vehicle condition. This is a used car so it is being sold as-is. Good luck and happy bidding!
