1991 GMC Other Additional Info:

Stock Syclone #2090 with less than 45k actual miles. In the interest of full disclosure, there is a lot of information I’d like to pass on so bear with me. I found and purchased this truck online about two years ago from the original owners son. He had inherited it after his father passed away. It had been in storage for several years and needed a thorough going thru. Externally, it needed the drivers side front fender cladding. I was told that it was run into and pulled off by a pickup truck hitch which had backed into it during a three point u-turn. Finding original cladding is difficult and finding one in good shape is even harder. Therefore, I purchased a high quality fiberglass reproduction and installed it. I was also told that the original owner was a musician and the truck was used to transport the bands instruments (I have my doubts about that) so unfortunately, the paint in the bed shows use. The interior is in excellent shape with no cracks on the original dash, no rips or wear on the seats. Original carpet and vinyl floor mats. I’ve replaced the rubber inflation tube on both seats lumbar support system with silicone tube. They both now work flawlessly. The gauges all now work properly. I did have to repair the dreaded and known issue with the oil pressure gauge needle which sometimes over-centers on power-up, swings over the top and gets stuck under the needle rest. I installed a pin which stops the needle from taking that wild swing again (thanks to the forums and how-to’s). I had the original radio gone thru and cassette player repaired to keep its originality. I replaced all 4 speakers since the originals were trashed. I installed a headliner since that was missing. Before doing so, I put insulation above it to help tame the heat with the Texas sun. Something interesting about the Certificate of Authenticity, the sharp eyed people among you will notice that the last 4 of the VIN stated is for truck #1232. The name listed on it however is of the original owner of this truck. I asked the son about it but he didn’t know anything about it (not much of a car guy). My guess is that the dealership had other Syclones for sale and they got the certificates mixed up. The disparity of the build numbers is a mystery to me. I’ve tried to do a little research online to see if maybe the owner of #1232 has the Certificate for #2090. No luck with that so far. I’ve had to replace the fuel pump so I went with the forum favorite- Walbro 255 with Hotwire kit and installed a new Fuel Filter. While the bed was off, I had a mobile media blaster remove the gunk and undercoat. I found the frame stamped with 2090 (pictured) which was a nice surprise.I replaced the valve guide seals so now there isn’t that puff of smoke at startup.New MagnaFlow muffler.Cruise control didn’t work when I got it but does now.AC didn’t blow cold when I got it but does now.Brake warning light was on when I got it so after diagnosis, I replaced the faulty Anti-lock brake unit. Many remove the unit altogether but I wanted it to remain stock.Factory paint on the Valve Covers, Intake and Intercooler was flaking off so I stripped them down and painted them with a high temp wrinkle finish.Upper & lower radiator hoses replaced (I have kept the originals with the GM date stamp of 1991) after flushing the coolant and installing a 160* thermostat along with a new water pump.New Alternator, Distributor, Cap, Rotor, Coil, Wires, Spark Plugs and boost solenoid.I’ve pulled the Fuel Injectors and had them ultrasonically cleaned and flow tested.New upper A arms and bushings.New aftermarket underhood pad.So, I think that about covers it. I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m selling the truck after all the time and money I’ve spent on it. I purchased a Tesla and so I’m selling some of my vehicles to make room. Will also be selling my 2007 MV Agusta Brutale 910R with less than 2k miles soon.
