1984 GMC Sierra 3500 School Bus Tow Truck

Be the hit of the car shows! NO RESERVE !!!

This is a 'chool' bus - a 1984 small passenger school bus that has been converted into a tow truck. The quality of the build is excellent and it gets lots of thumbs ups while driving down the road. The roomy interior has a rear couch that folds down into a bed. The upholstery needs to be redone. The inside has overhead cabinets, and a CB radio. The rear of the cab is the rear of the bus, door, lights and all. The tow bed has an electric Ramsey winch. Also the tow stinger is removable in order to be used as a regular flatbed or fifth-wheel rig. It has hydro-assist dual rear brakes. Tires are all good, but old. The hood had been replaced at one time, and is not yellow. The inside was kept its original green, and the green captain's chairs match and are very comfortable. The short wheel base is nice. There is also a receiver hitch in back. There is also a longtail 7-pin trailer pigtail with brake adjuster in cab. All in all, this is a neat little tow rig. I bought this rig in Dallas, and drove it from Dallas to NW Arkansas without issues, and actually got pretty fair mileage. I used it around town, towed a few vehicles with it, and pulled in the driveway one day, and the reverse went out. The truck would drive forward, but would not shift into reverse, and I can't remember if it would even shift into neutral. I believe it is stuck in Forward. The transmission mechanic I talked to said the bands seized and the transmission will have to be rebuilt. The truck handles great, front end is nice and tight, and the brakes are solid. The condition of the drive train now is being sold as 'unknown' as it has been parked for awhile. You couldn't pay for labor to build one for what this is selling for. The truck is down at the farm. The truck is actually better than it looks and nicer than the pictures show because it needs a good cleaning. I cleaned it as best as I could with water jugs without any running water. There is no rust anywhere, It is a good solid vehicle. Will need to be towed or trailered. I can help with arrangements. Serious bidders only.
