To some its the ultimate muscle car/grand tourer, others love it for being the first Mustang to be powered by the 428. Many others are infatuated with the car for being the first of Shelby's legendary GT500, other love it for being the last of Shelby's LA build GT500s. While many others just love it for the beautiful, powerful styling and Legendary name associated with it. Whether you're a collector or enthusiast, and whatever your reasoning, there is no denying that they are one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time. This 1967 Shelby GT500 was shipped April 24th to Jim Lebens Ford. A special car from day one being a factory Wimbledon White with black interior, factory 4 speed GT500, this car was destined to be cherished by its proprietors, but it would be difficult for anyone to predict how well the car would be maintained and cared for almost 50 years down the road. Going by the accompanying documentation in the form of copies of original titles and the information in the Shelby World Registry, this car would end up in Corpus Christi Texas by 1982. Still in excellent original condition, it would remain located in that town until 1989 when it was purchased by John Clark Gable in Malibu California, son of Hollywood legend Clark Gable. There it would remain until 1996 when it was acquired by another California car collector who was drawn to it by the great original condition. Today, the car remains a very original example of the desirable 1967 Shelby GT500. From the factory applied Wimbledon White paint, showing some patina from the 47 years of aging and use to the great original interior, its a rare reference to how the cars were built back in the day. Per the World Registry, the motor has been removed, freshened and detailed to ensure it still runs strong. With great documentation from copies of titles back to 1982, to the original stickers all over the car, this Shelby remains a great example of how they were built and how they can be maintained. With interesting owner history and a very desirable factory delivery, its a truly rare and unique opportunity not to be over looked. This incredible original unmolested shelby is number 1122 in the shelby registry.
