1941 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe Business Man's Coupe Additional Info:

Hello, bidders:

I’m selling this car because I just can’t cut up something this pristine. I had planned to turn it into a “lead sled” street mod with fire breathing engine. But every time I take out the Sawzall, I just can’t do it. So, it’s up for auction and I hope somebody who likes and appreciates original will win the bid.

This is a very clean, excellent running 1941 Ford Super Deluxe in near original condition. No leaks, rust free. Everything on this car came from the factory except the paint (it was repainted in 2005 the original “Lochaven” green color), the upholstery was replaced (it now sports a leather “tuck and roll” in a light cream color) and a few miscellaneous repair parts. The engine and drive train, frame, body panels, wheels, stainless trim, lights, wheels, dash, etc. are all factory original. Includes rear fender skirts, manuals, Early V-8 club book, spare points, shock link. The tires are new but I also have original Ford Script tires with approximately 50% tread wear. Clean Texas title, currently has full registration (not registered as an antique).

History: This car was assembled in the Long Beach, California plant in 1941 and purchased by a dentist who lived in the Phoenix area. When the dentist retired from his practice, he moved back to his family home in Indiana. He later sold the Ford with some 80K miles on the odometer to a private Ford museum in Ohio. The car was on display for over 40 years when it was purchased by a buyer in Illinois. This person had the car brought up to running condition; new fuel tank, shocks, brakes, carburetor, belts, hoses (all receipts included). I bought the car from this person in 2015 with the plans to turn it into a hot rod “lead sled”. However, every time I take the Sawzall out, I’m just unable to cut into this pristine car.

The 1941s were the first of the "fat" Fords, with a clean contemporary look that helped improve Fords sales. In late September of 1940, the new models were introduced at 6,000 Ford dealers. Ford sales were up 150,000 from 1940 withalmost 700,000 cars produced for model year 1941. The wheelbase was 2 inches longer and overall length was increased by just over 6 inches, weight increased 150 pounds mostly due to a beefier frame borrowed from the 1939-1940 mercury. The new frame was wider than and twice as rigid as the 1940 Ford with an “X” box cross-member welded to the side-members. The engine was essentially the same V-8, 221 cubic inch flathead introduced in 1932, except that it was now rated at 90 horsepower at 3800 rpm.

The new Fords were distinguished by their sleek profiles, fat bodies and their three-piece grille. The hood remained the same as the 1940 Fords. Door handles were now mounted flush with the stainless side trim and nearly concealed gas cap.

In some states, containing the parking lights inside the headlight bezel had been made illegal. As a result Ford set the parking lights, sportily on top of the two piece fenders (some earlier models of the production had three piece fenders). The headlamps were spaced further apart in the fenders.

The wider bodies and frame allowed for a 7 inch wider front seat. Combined with softer and slower-acting springs and shocks, a redesigned ride-stabilizer, new seat springs and cushions and a quieter engine; the 1941 Ford was much more comfortable than previous models.
