Although the styling of Fords 1941 cars was updated, the larger trucks remained basically unchanged fromthe previous year. While the Commercial Car line and1⁄2-ton pickups mimicked the Standard Seriespassenger cars, the conventional heavy-duty modelsretained the previous year’s design, includingfreestanding headlights. This group included a growingnumber of 1 1⁄2-ton military Stake trucks being orderedby the U.S. government in advance of World War II.
These workhorse vehicles were available in seven
different wheelbases rated at 3⁄4, 1 or 1 1⁄2-tons. Theycould be ordered as bare chassis or with one of fivedifferent standard body types including a cab-over-engine (COE) closed cab model. The subject caris a 1941 Ford Model 11Y CommercialPickup truck on a 122-inch wheelbase Express chassisrated at 1-ton. It is powered by a 90 horsepower V-8engine. This example was owned for most of its life bythe Sheets family of Minnesota who used it as adelivery truck for their Mobiloil products business. TheMobiloil Company had evolved out of the SoconyVacuum Oil Company in New York, hence that nameappears on the doors below the familiar Mobil Pegasusemblem. The truck remains in largely unrestoredcondition

The Fuel system has been completely redone, tank has been dropped and cleaned, new lines, and carburetor rebuilt. New starter, steel floor, headliner and exhaust installed last year. Starts right up, runs great, brakes work well. All fluids have been drained and replaced.
