1973 Ford Mustang Additional Info:

This is a fully restored 1973 Mustang fastback which underwent a truly complete restoration in 2017 and has been driven approximately 200 miles since. We hope the following description adequately describes the extensive work done to restore this car. We have placed a low opening bid. This car has never seen a winter and has never been driven in the rain since it was restored.
This was built as a tribute car to the "Gone in Sixty Seconds" movie. The original movie was shot in 1974 and featured a 1974 Mach 1. The 2000 remake with Nicholas Cage featured Elanor that was painted gunmetal grey. Car from the first movie, color from the second movie. The black details, normally flat black on Mach 1's has been painted metallic gloss black. We skipped any badging as the car is not originally a Mach 1, (but now carries all of the features as a Mach 1) and so the end result would be a cleaner look. End result is the beautiful machine being offered here.
The specs:-351 Cleveland with a two barrel intake and a 350 Street Avenger carb. 4 barrel intake is available. FMX automatic transmission.
-Transmission recently serviced, seals replaced, torque converter rebuilt.
-Originally from Virginia. Purchased rust free, all original sheet metal intact.
-Rear window has the rare optional rear window defroster.
-New tires are 215/70R15 fronts and matching 225/70R15 rears (BF Goodrich).
-New front and rear abs spoilers.
The work done:-Rust free car. Stripped down to bare metal. Blocked 3 times before applying any paint. The paint quality is exceptional.
-Restored in 2017 and driven approximately 200 miles since restoration.
-Motor and transmission were removed from the car. Motor was flushed. Replacedmotor mounts. Engine bay repainted.
-The sheet metal from the firewall forward was replaced with '71-'72 NOS fenders to swap the "rubber bumpers" for the earlier style chrome bumpers.
-The true functional RAM air hood was after market but the fenders are NOS.
-The heating and a/c system was completely replaced. The new system features original looking slide controllers that actually function digitally (Classic Auto Air system).
-Additional gauges were added to supplement the "idiot lights" that were the only way of monitoring the car.
-New distributor, Petronix ignitor and new carb.
-Rebuilt front suspension and new front and rear springs.
-Engine was not rebuilt because it still has very good compression. A new timing chain was installed.
-The entire underside of the car was cleaned, wire brushed and painted. See photos of undercarriage.
-Classic tube stainless brake and transmission lines throughout, new chrome master cylinder and new brakes.
-All new interior, seats, door cards, dash panel, seat covers, carpet, armrests, front and rear seat belts, pedal pads, leather wrap steering wheel, door water shields, trunk carpet, air vents, headliner, sun visors, floor mats, new window cranks and door handles, etc. New seat foam on front seats.
-Aluminum pulleys.
-New rims and BF Goodrich tires.
New exhaust system and new shocks and front and rear springs.
-New Milodon water pump and thermostat with Scott Drake bolts.
-New valve covers, grill, honeycomb taillight panel, Mach 1 grill, washer reservoir, air cleaner, battery cables, gas cap, firewall insulation, chrome hood molding, mirror, parking light assemblies, ABS rear spoiler, wheel bearings, flowmaster exhaust, battery tray, hood locks, gas tank sending unit, float and straps, chrome water neck, alternator, you get the idea....No stone unturned.
-New sound system Kenwood deck, 600W Diamond Audio 4 channel amp (mounted in the trunk), top of the line Focal 6x9 speakers, rear window deck replaced with black textured ABS plastic instead of the original cardboard. Hands free/bluetooth ready.
There are some small chips on the rear deck lid that were touched up, there are three light scratches on the passenger rear quarter that can be rubbed out and there is a small scratch on the chrome trim on the front of the hood. All window glass is original and in good condition.
This car is not a trailer queen but the paint alone will easily win you some car show ribbons if you're interested in that. We have tried to represent the car here as honestly as we possibly can. Approximately $40,000 invested so it could be a great deal for the lucky winner of this auction.
We strongly suggest that you come toRochester to see and drive the car. If that is not possible, there are many special interest auto restoration shops in the area that can inspect the car on your behalf. The car was appraised in 2018 by Barry Brown Classic Restoration for $35,000.
The car runs and drives beautifully. No leaks or drips, Shifts perfectly. no smoke - the engine is very strong.
