1966 Ford Mustang Additional Info:

This is a beautiful 1966 Mustang GT350 tribute to Shelby's creation.
A bit of history....Convertible Shelby Mustangs didn't hit the scene until '68 - in production form, that is. However, four legit G.T. 350 convertibles were made for 1966 per the 2011 Shelby Registry from the Shelby American Automobile Club. Whether you call them test cars, prototypes, or styling exercises, the crux is that they certainly weren't available to the general public. In the case of the '66s, the SAAC Registry details how these were the last four cars(once thought to be six)ordered by Shelby American at the end of the model year. At least three were destined for use within Shelby and Ford as test vehicles while one other was sold toBob Shane of the popular singing group, The Kingston Trio. To learn a bit more about the rarity, and unbelievablycoming up for auction in Mayhttps://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0520-414698/1966-shelby-gt350-convertible/estimated to easily reach over 100K.
This 1966 Mustang GT350 tribute started as a extremelyclean '66 convertible and has been transformed into thesauterne gold metallicShelby beauty.
I had this car on ebay about a month ago and the buyer played games... his loss... so I decided to spend some time, money and effort to add FRESH PAINT AND BUFF BEING COMPLETED THIS WEEK! New side panel GT350 stripes will be applied as well.
Underneath the car is very nice - finished in all black as is the rear axle. It offers upgraded front disk brakes, a 66 date correct 289 4 barrel Shelby dressed with less then 5k miles on the motor with a c4 auto trans connected to a 8" rear (new throw bearings just installed). Off the motor are headers and dual exhaust (less then 1000 miles) with chrome tips through the rear valance. It sounds like a nice driver mustang... not loud or obnoxious but elegantand throaty... perfect for a Sunday drive or your local parades. It's also been used in modeling shoots and such.
All the chrome is very nice and the door glass is in great condition. The windshield has a repaired place on it where a stone hit it... not bad, less then a dime, but it's there. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires are nice with Shelby style wheels and caps (note: I just replaced the style steel wheels - in some pics - with Shelby style wheels to finish the Shelby decor - in other words, you will get the Shelby wheels NOT the style steel version) The top, rarely put up as the car is always garaged, is in good condition and has the rear plastic style window - top is white. It has not been replaced in many years but usable with no rips or tears. It has the interior matching convertible tonneau cover. The Shelby stripes run through the hood and trunk was painted and cleared on top however the side stripes are the standard vinyl GT350 strip kits - all in NEW condition. Shelby badging all around, gas cap, Shelby VIN badging, etc. and a new cobra style steering wheel (not cheap).
The interior is in great condition, the door panels are very nice and offer the cool pistol grip handles, seats and dash all near perfect. The interior offers the woodgrain styling through the dash and console (the woodgrain tape is starting to peel up but easily glued or replaced as they make a console kit for these). The radio is a correct fit classic fit Mustang radio but is a old style tape deck - functional... but not Bluetooth or the like. Could use newer front (driver side) floor mat. The dash gauges are an upgraded white cluster... the gas gauge needs adjusted as it's off but works.

Much money has been put into this car over the years as you can imagine and you couldn't build it for my reserve price.
Clean Virginia title. I have transport contacts and may be able to assist with the handling of the transport. Cost of transport is on the buyer of course.
I may be interested in partial trades... Let me know what you have.... AMX, other fastback mustangs, fastback projects, cool trucks....
Please have the money, any permission you need to buy this before bidding... please... as it is just a waste of time. Selling locally and feel free to contact me.
I can assist with International sales as well. I also accept credit cards, partial or complete payment but would need an additional 4% to cover transactional costs from the credit card transactional company I use.
Note - I have a mix of pictures from over the years as this has been in my collection for about 10 years. To clarify, it comes with the Shelby style wheels and the Shelby steering wheel... these have been added recently and pull the whole Shelby theme together... and not cheap!
Contact me with questions and I'm quick to answer.
