The car was originally purchased from a private owner in 1985 in Baton Rouge LA. A restoration effort was started and abandoned at the time. After the car was purchased it received a complete undercarriage sand blast and an application of epoxy primer was applied to seal the metal followed by the black enamel. The interior metal was also stripped and received an application of epoxy primer. The exterior was repainted in the original Wimbledon White using PPG Acrylic Urethane with no clear coat. The engine is original to the car and was boiled, bored .30 over, and completely rebuilt. The car was restored to compete in Mustang Club of America (MCA) concourse class events in the late 80's. The car has been moved from LA to TX, North Carolina and finally CA where it's always been stored indoors and regularly maintained since 1999.
My father purchased the vehicle from the second owner on 4/10/09 with 73,400 miles on the odometer. I have personally driven the car many times. It runs incredibly well. It has plenty of power and easily operates at highway speeds. It starts, stops and steers straight as an arrow. She's due for a new convertible top. However, the convertible frame and power operation both work well. Recent (2014 - 2019) work and maintenance performed includes:
  • Refreshed interior upholstery - F/R seats (covers, foam, springs), carpet, door panels, etc
  • Front-end rebuild - Front/Rear shocks, bushings, tie rods, etc.
  • Engine block & Radiator flush and overflow bottle installed
  • Rebuilt front/rear brakes
  • New exhaust
  • Complete tune-up - plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, oil filer, and all lubricants
  • Rebuilt original factory 4bbl Carb
  • Rebuilt generator
  • New factory correct steering wheel
  • New starter
  • Transmission removed and all seals replaced
  • New rear brake/turn signal lenses
  • Power top hydraulics adjusted and refreshed
  • New battery
