1956 Ford C600 Additional Info:

Up for auction is this 1956 Ford C600 with a hydraulic rollback wrecker carriage mounted on the frame. Certainly a hard to find and cool looking truck that stands out of the crowd. The rollback carriage came off of a newer truck and worked fine when removed. Still needs the PTO mounted to the transmission with proper backlash adjustment set, but does include the pto and pump that were removed from the newer wrecker. It has rollback and winch controls on both sides and includes the Ramsey hydraulic winch. It needs a deck installed (I am thinking nice wood screwed down to the 3/4" thick aluminum carriage rails with a painted steel border) and rear lighting and wiring. The body and frame are very solid. Even where there is some surface rust. The only rust holes I have found is one about dime size in a step and a couple that you could maybe stick the very point of an ink pen into in the lower back of the cab. Very good cab in my opinion that has been in the dryer eastern Oregon and eastern Washington areas. The truck has had a pretty clean engine and trans swap done at some point. The engine is a 330 FE/FT Ford big block with a metal Ford rebuild tag affixed to the engine block. The transmission is a 5 speed. It does run and drive with no bad noises. It has a 2 speed rearend. It has 22.5 wheels, which make for nice tire selection with great weight rating. New seat upholstery and headliner. I do have the air cleaner for the engine. The pictures were taken when it was wet and show kinda what it would look like with a clear coat on it. It has no clear coat now and is actually a flatter sheen when dry. Main things it needs - deck, new tires, it does have a crack in the pass door window, lights and wiring to rear at least, not sure if all accessories work and just to cover myself I am stating that this truck needs a complete restoration. I also have a HD A-arm front suspension that could be available if a person wants it in the weeds. I have installed one of those suspensions onto the stock heavy duty frame rails before (in the green 55 Ford shown in the background of one of the pics) and it works well. Z the back of the frame and it's down low. Much better than neutering one of these classics by installing some pickup chassis IMO. I have a low reserve on it because I just have too many of these projects that I don't have time for and I've got to start selling a few. It does come with a clean and clear title. If you are into the old COE Fords, I think this is a great one to get. Shipping is the buyers sole responsibility, however I do have a pretty flexible schedule that should allow for me to assist with loading. I understand that U-ship is a buyer's option and I know there are other private vehicle transport companies. If payment is made with a cashier's check or personal check, I need them well in advance of pickup so that I can make sure they are ok through my bank. This vehicle needs to be picked up within 45 days of the auction close.

Someone with a gooseneck equipment trailer and pickup might be willing to come get a truck like this pretty reasonable. I see plenty of them running around. The top of the cab measures 93" off the ground so I wouldn't think that overheight could be any kind of an issue for transport. The rollback carriage is 18'1" long. If the deck has a wedged piece on the back you could wind up around 18'6" on deck length. Or with the way it is made it could be trimmed shorter too.

The 22.5 wheels on this truck are NOT split rims. Tires are tubeless type.
