1963 Ford Falcon Sprint Convertible Additional Info:

1963 Ford Falcon Sprint Convertible

Few would argue that the 1963-1965 Falcon Sprints are the most popular birds of the species. Your favorite Falcon model may not be a Sprint, but the market indicates that 1963-1965 Sprints, both hardtops and convertibles, are the most sought-after Falcons and command the highest prices.

For consignment a Sprint convertible, with bucket seats from the very first year of introduction. This car is a Florida car which was fully restored in 2011. This included the original drivetrain getting the once over, a fully functioning power top, power steering, and an all new OEM interior. One of only 4,602 units produced as a Sprint model with a convertible top and bucket seats for 1963.

Exterior
A respray of Corinthian White covers straight steel panels very nicely and retains its wonderful shine. Up front on the hood scoop is a shiny band of chrome adorning the front opening. On top of either front fender is a gun site style trimming and the F O R D badging. A clean egg crate grille is flanked by a single headlight with a large protruding bezel. Signal lights are clean, and the front bumper is mirrorlike. On either side there is a trim spear adornment that doubles as a vent in the front of the spear on the front quarter panel. On the rear the correct F A L C O N letters run across the center. (This is opposed to the non Sprints which have F U T U R A across in the block letters). This convertible is power operated, in near perfect condition with a clear rear window, and clean white canvas. 14-inch American Racing Torque Thrust Wheels are on all 4 corners.

Interior
Turning our attention to the interior, new OEM seats with tuck and roll black vinyl inserts and smooth bolsters in the form of buckets in front and a bench in the rear, all shine nicely, and sport clean white piping accenting the different panel distinctions. A chrome ribbed center console starts at the back of the buckets and ends in the front of them. Short but sweet in all its glorious shine. Door panels are stunning with black vinyl, and polished aluminum "spears" if you will as accenting. When the doors are closed this polished panel picks up where the door left off and continues as the side panel for the rear bench on either side...nifty! The same is true for the upper door spear, as it continues from the upper door through the just perfectly restored dash. The dash has a futuristic instrument cluster with integrated speedo, fuel and temp gauges all corralled by a run of chrome trim. Plenty of white ribbed pulls and knobs are lined up along the bottom of the dash, and an aftermarket but looking original AM/FM radio is in the center. Also, the dealer installed FORD dash mounted tachometer option is on this car. Black fade free carpet floods the floors and has white floor mats to protect it.

Drivetrain
260 Cubic Inches of V8 are stuffed inside the engine bay. It has a royal blue block and correct chromed Sprint badged valve covers, and chromed air cleaner cover. All hoses, belts and wires are remaining soft and supple with no dry rotting. A single 2-barrel carb is atop, and a 2-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission is on back with a Ford 8-inch 3.25 geared rear axle.

Undercarriage
All very nicely restored, rust free, clean, black painted panels abounds in this environment. Not even road splash is seen under here. Drum brakes are all around, and a glasspack style exhaust is noted.

Drive-Ability
As expected with a restoration of this caliber we encountered no problems with any aspects of driving, and the drive-ability of this car. It was a great cruiser with the top down on the sunny day afforded us for out test track encircling run.

This fully restored actual 1963-1/2 Sprint Falcon is a real collectable car. First year with a low number production with options applied to this car, one of the select few cars one could truly call an investment, as these are now wildly popular...especially truly original Sprint models as they only lasted through 1965.
