1968 GT500 car number 1511, this car started life as a factory demo for a Ford executive in the Florida region (hence the automatic and air conditioning options).
Originally ordered in the beautiful Acapulco Blue over Saddle interior, and well optioned with all the creature comforts of the day, air conditioning, tilt- away steering wheel, deluxe interior, and the car is still in its original and as delivered state today. It has excellent fit and finish, and the panel alignment is exceptional!
Per the 1997 Shelby American registry, the car has had 4 previous owners and is not only very original but in exceptional condition, not surprising as it appears to have remained in the dry southern climates its entire life, and well cared for by enthusiasts throughout. We recently acquired this spectacular example from a retired businessman who was downsizing and traded 3 spectacular cars for a new mercedes sports car. Having owned the car for 15 years he told us out of the 8 Shelby's he owned this was his favorite and spent most of its last years tucked away in his garage under its car cover. A high quality repaint in the 2000's in the original factory hue, it still looks like it was done very recently. The original drivetrain was freshened up in 2004 and all receipts are included along with a binder of documentation including the deluxe Marti report, delivery paperwork, copy of Shelby invoice, and a Shelby American registry with the cars history and numerous receipts for any work performed. The car is in excellent mechanical condition, and everything works, it performs awesome and it looks stunning sitting on our showroom waiting for the younger generation GT500 to come in and sit next to it. Current mileage is 76,653, which is believed to be original.
