1988 Ford Mustang LX Additional Info:

Up for auction is 1988 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Liter with a 5-speed Manual transmission. It is a two owner car, the first owner purchased the car new at the age of 45. He was 72 when he sold it to me in 2015. He lives in Wisconsin and he told me he would drive the car in the summer only and had a "winter" car so the car would not get rusty and not get stuck in the snow. The rest of the year the car was covered in the garage. That is why when I purchased the car it only had 27,000 miles. He also told me that when the car reached 25 years old, he wanted to get Classic car "Hot Rod" registration to save money on registration fees and insurance but as per Wisconsin DMV the car had to be modified but his car was stock. To qualify he changed the hood with a cowl hood along with a cold air induction system. That explains the carfax inquiry in 2013. He also told me that he had the car completely repainted in 2001 using basecoat/clearcoat paint in the original color after his grandson hit the left front fender with a mower. So that fender is the only panel that does not have the vin stickers. The rest are intact.

Anyway when I purchased the car, it was a very well preserved, stock and extremely "not abused" 5.0. which is very rare. Buying one of these cars from a 72 year old man with a 5-speed manual is extremely rare. When I went over the car with my mechanic we discovered that the car had its original Goodyear Gatorbacks, original spark plug wires, even original spark plugs and cap and rotor. Long story short, the only thing not original to the car was the battery. The clutch is very tight so this car led a very pampered life, especially having the original tires, not my burnouts if any were done in this Mustang. Here is a list of the things I have done when I first got the car;

-changed all fluids with synthetic fluids

-new front brake pads (Pro Stop) with cross drilled rotors

-full tune up with cap, rotor and spark plugs

-new sway bar end links

-new OEM headlights

-new air dam spoiler

-new horns

-original wheels powdercoated and new Cooper CS5 Ultras

-New front fully adjustable KYB AGX Struts

-New rear fully adjustable KYB shocks and quad shocks

-New windshield wipers

-Rear View Mirror

After the initial freshening up I decided to update the car new car status plus make improvements in order for it up to standards of today's cars. After 30 years soft rubber parts, moldings and some mechanical parts need to be replaced in order for it to be new no matter how cared for a car has been treated. This is a list of parts that have replaced and/or installed to make drive, perform and feel like new;

Drivetrain;

-BBK shorty chrome headers with copper gaskets

-Bassani H pipe stainless steel with new catalytic

Converters

-Flowmaster cat-back exhaust with 3-chamber

Mufflers(quieter than regular Flowmasters)

-Bama Performance custom chip with 3 option switch

1st option stock runs on 87, 2nd option slight performance increase runs on 89 and 3rd option full performance settings runs on 93 octane. Switch is under ashtray and can be changed on the fly. Also the chip can be removed and sent to Bama and can be recalibrated if additional modifications are done to the car(free of Charge, paperwork will be included so new owner can do it

Suspension;

-Stifflers sub frame connectors

-Strut tower brace

-Stifflers X brace(ties the right and left subframes to the

Body) eliminated all rattles, squeaks and improves handling

Dramatically.

-transmission mount

Interior and Weatherstripping;

-All new door, hatch and hood weatherstripping

-All new inner and outer window sweeps

-New door lock buttons, button covers

-New Seat belt covers, console lid, new directional, wipers and hi beam post(see picture)

-New front and rear seat covers(Factory pattern and color)

-New inner window weatherstripping (inside door where front windows rest)

-New outer door jamb moldings(around the upper door frame)

-New rear window molding covers

-New leather gear shift knob

Exterior and Body;

-New belt moldings

-New emblems and nameplates

-New Cowl Cover

-New 17 inch Pony Wheels with new Nitto tires

-Paint was completely wet sanded and buffed to a mirror shine.

All these additions have made this Mustang handle, ride, perform better than new. It does not have any rattles, speaks or shuttering while going over bumps or potholes. It performs far better than when it was new. I am reluctantly selling this Mustang but a recent back injury forces me to sell because I cannot drive a car with a clutch anymore. I did all this work because I intended to keep the car and enjoy it. I searched for several months to find a one owner,unmolested, low mile Mustang that is extremely hard at this point in time. Most either have high miles, have been modified and abused or are just worn out. This Mustang is a survivor and has been improved upon in order to make it better than new. It is a joy to drive and the engine and suspension can be simply adjusted so it can be driven for all out performance or can be adjusted for a smooth touring ride or anywhere in the middle. It's the best of both worlds. You can have the high performance power and handling but if you want a nice smooth comfortable ride can be adjusted in a couple of minutes. Like most new cars that have adjustable suspension options and like sports cars you can change the performance of the engine. Modern options in a vintage Mustang. All the work done was done professionally and all receipts have been kept. I have close to 100 pics and if you send me your email address I will send you the link since EBay does not allow links in their ads anymore. Thanks for looking.

Please no bids from people with less than 10 feedbacks. It costs money to post these auctions.

This car also comes with the original wheels restored with new Cooper Tires. Thanks again.
