ICONIC 1965 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE

TRENDSETTER OF THE 1960s!

GENERAL BACKGROUND...The 1965 Mustang caught the world by surprise...and Ford's competitors were stunned. The car captured the imagination of the public like no other car in history. Never before had a car so refreshingly new and desirable been available to so many at such an affordable price.

IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO THIS CAR...

  • Although not a factory G.T. 350, many attractive features such as the hood locking pins, hood scoop, and lower body-side stripes were inspired by the G.T. 350.
  • Old Air Products "Hurricane" Heat-Air Condition-Defrost System
  • EPAS Performance Electric Power Steering System
  • New Exhaust System
  • Modern AM-FM Radio with Power Antenna
  • New Radiator & Electric Fan
  • New Master Cylinder and Brake Pads
  • New Fuel lines and Fuel pump
  • LED tail-lamps

DATAPLATE DECODING...76A (Convertible Body), 5 (Twilight Turquoise), D6 (White w/Black Interior Trim), 05B (Feb 5, 1965 assembly date), 6 (C4 Automatic Transmission), 6 (2.80 Axle Ratio).

JAN 2018 NADA PRICE RANGE w/289-2V V8...$38,640 (Avg) to $63,940 (High)

EXCELLENT INVESTMENT - NADA values are definitely on the rise, and the historical importance of the first Mustang makes this car - particularly in convertible form - among the best "Blue Chip" Classic Car investments you can make.

IMPERFECTIONS - NO car is perfect. This car is very nice and quite frankly, is a stunner both on the road and at local shows. In the photo-session for this listing alone, we were greeted by about a dozen admirers who felt compelled to take a closer look at this stunning classic. The current owner has made important safety and comfort improvements as noted because his prime objective has been to drive and enjoy the car. Many cars are restored so well and so close to perfect, that owners are afraid to drive them. That has not been the case here. As it is driven regularly, no attempt has been made to eliminate every cosmetic imperfection. Therefore, it should be considered a "Drive & Show" classic. Something you can take out and have fun with - without being terrified about the inevitable rock chip or scratch. BUT, at the same time, it is plenty nice to take to local shows and be proud of.

OPERATIONAL REPORT - the car drives nice, with strong engine performance and a smooth-shifting transmission. Because the original Mustang power steering systems have been known to be troublesome, EPAS Electric Power Steering was chosen. Power brakes and A/C make driving easier and more comfortable too. Exterior lights, Horn, Windshield Wipers, Heater/Air Conditioner, and electric convertible top were all tested and found operational just prior to this listing.

ODOMETER NOTE...78,260 miles are indicated. Due to its 1965-era design limitations, it is impossible to know whether or not the mileage indicated is original or not, and no representations as to original mileage are being made.
