1938 Ford Other -- Additional Info:

The 1930s was a wonderful time for designers. In the early years, Art Deco influences created geometric and stylized designs. Later in the decade, streamlining became the trend. This '38 Ford showcases both with a big, beautiful, streamlined body, and an updated interior featuring geometric patterns and modern conveniences. As the United States was coming out of the Depression, bigger was better. Double breasted suits and tuxedos with tails were popular. You can see that reflected in... this beautiful Red car. The front end looks kind of like a double-breasted suit jacket. The horizontal grill in body color creates a clean look with the only chrome on the car being the surrounds for the teardrop headlights underlined by a pencil thin bumper. There are also, however, those awesome Boyd Coddington wheels setting the whole car up on their splash of flash too. The narrow nose of the hood dips down into the grill and starts the streamlining effect that flows smoothly back from there, blending the headlights into the fenders and blending the rear fenders into the trunk line like the tails of a tuxedo. The chopped roof compliments and accentuates that streamlined effect and the body sits low to the ground creating an awesome street rod stance. Open the doors and you are greeted by a Gray door panel that sets the geometric style of the interior. There are horizontal lines embossed into a custom door panel with highlights of brushed aluminum on the armrest. Body color carries through onto the dash, tilt steering column, and steering wheel. There is a shifter for the automatic transmission and a line of VDO gauges across the dash that include the speedometer along with oil, water, fuel, and voltage. Just to the right are the ventilation controls which include the ones for the R-134 air conditioning. Just below that is a rectangular center console with the vents for the A/C as well as an Alpine head unit that is AM/FM/CD and iPod compatible. The bucket seats are very comfortable for long cruises and are manually adjustable in multiple directions including seat height. They fold forward giving access to a back seat that is as comfortable as your living room couch, and that large trunk is big enough to carry anything you could want on a trip. Open that long tapered hood and you will find a nicely dressed out 350 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay with lots of shine going on. There is a chrome Edelbrock air topper, with a polished intake manifold and chromed valve covers. The radiator hose has a chrome wrap and the alternator and A/C compressor are polished up nicely. A dual exhaust system with Dynomax mufflers give the car a nice sound, and power flows back through a 3-speed automatic to the back wheels. Power rack and pinion steering works through a control arm front suspension with coil springs and shocks to provide good handling and easy maneuverability in parking lots, and power front disc brakes assure good braking. Rear leaf springs along with air bags suspend the rear of the car, and those Boyd Coddington wheels have 245/45R18s mounted on the rear and 215/40/R17s on the front. Come on down and check out this classic '30s street rod. You might decide that it is just your style.
