Beautiful paint job in BASF Mystic paint. The car appears to have been disassembled, color change done, and then re-assembled. Safe to say this must have been very close to a $10,000 visit to the paint / body shop. RS side skirts from Ford of Europe RS program were also painted / installed at the time of the color change to color changing paint.
Ford introduced the Mystic paint exclusively on the SVT Mustang Cobra for 1996, which featured high-tech, color-shifting paint formulated by BASF. Utilizing color-shifting ChromaFlair pigments from Flex Products, the Mystic paint shifts from green to amber to gold to purple depending on the angle and the availability of light.
ZERO RUST, excellent condition leather interior. New front control arms with new polyurethane bushings just installed.Recent tune up and oil change as well. No check engine lights on, runs well, transmission shifts as it should, brakes stop well. Tires have some age to them and it will not be long before they should be replaced. They hold air well and you can drive on them - but I would not recommenda coast-to-coast trip on them.
The Scorpio uses the Ford 2.9L Cologne V6 engine commonly found in Ford Bronco II and Ford Ranger. Easy to work on and common engine parts readily available. The intake, dual throttlebody, and TPS sensor are the only items that really differ from any other Ford 2.9L V6. The TPS is not a common item at the auto parts store but we stock them if you ever need one.Automatic transmission is also a common Ford A4LD unit.1989 final model year with leather heated seats and the "touring" package. Rear seats look like no one has ever sat in them. Front seats, interior carpet, dash pad, door panels, etc. all in excellent condition as shown.
This Scorpio has a late enough build date (Apr. 1989) to have the "leaf catcher" on the cowl screen and the 'belly pan" under the engine compartment - both of which are in good shape.
I believe the mileage to be 57,693 as shown and one look at the car and you will probably agree. The carfax report is available and is more detailed than the free autocheck report here on ebay. The dealership replaced the odometer and noted the mileage of replacement on the door sticker. The last title issued had the mileage written on the sticker added to the mileage on the odometer. On 5/2013 the mileage is last reported at 57k, then title transfer 5 months later on 10/2013 shows the mileage reported at 113k. Not a big deal but worth mentioning.
