1962 FORD THUNDERBIRD SPORTS ROADSTER all matching numbers

The only proof we have is the data plate, which indicates it is a sports roadster. Most 62s and all 63s have a VIN code of 89 and a body code of 76B on the data plate. Convertibles all have VIN codes of 85 and body codes of 76A on the data plate.
The exception to this is for early date coded 62 Sports Roadsters had the same VIN designation (85) as the standard convertibles. In November of 1961 there was a changeover to the better known 89 designation found in all subsequent Sports Roadsters. This car has a VIN#2Y89Z148215 and the data plate indicates that the car was manufactured on March 1, 1962 (01C)

An original Florida car (now residing in South Carolina with a clear SC title). Mileage 52,651 believed to be true. The original Rangoon red paint is in very good condition and still displays high gloss that I feel does not need to be repainted. There is slight fading on an area below the windshield. Small dimple dent on driver’s door, nice chrome and trim with bright luster, all glass in good condition and like new black vinyl interior, new dash pad and red floor mats (front/rear) with T-Bird logo. Black top is like new and works flawlessly. Trunk has new mat. Rebuilt motor and transmission (2007) fires up strong and runs smooth every day. Original shop manual and owner’s manual is included. Work done in 2007 also included front end, brake work and exhaust. Oil change was completed in August. I have documented receipts for all work done.

Standard equipment includes, 300 horse power, detailed 390, V8, 4bbl, Cruise-O-Matic transmission, power steering, power brakes, clock, interior and trunk lighting, swing away steering wheel, center console glove box, windshield mounted rear view and side mirrors, 2 speed wipers, heater. The other add options includes, working A/C converted to 134a (all components for AC are new), AM radio (not working), power driver’s seat, front seat belts, and windshield washer.

Sport Roadster equipment: This Sport Roadster is equipped with five, chrome Kelsey Hayes wire wheels with spinner and black badges. The following items were unique to only the Sport Roadster: The original fiberglass Tonneau cover, with retaining clamp and footman's loop, and it has an original Ford part numbered latch, with 3 special Roadster badges and the original Roadster passenger emergency grab bar. The car has no anti-vibration weights and had wheel cover holes drilled for skirts with no studs or evidence of use.

Reason for selling: We have 4 other cars and we are 2 senior citizens.
