1964 Ford Falcon Sprint V-8 Convertible Description Rare Falcon Sprint Convertible 260ci V8 Power Convertible Top Power Steering Dual Exhaust

Although actually produced from 1960 to 1970, Edsel Ford actually conceived the “Falcon” name back in 1935 but ultimately decided not to produce this vehicle under the Ford name giving birth to the Mercury line.

A redesign changed the Falcon’s looks for 1964. The new look was more squared-off, more modern, as Ford pursued the youth market. Later in 1964, Ford’s new offering for that market was launched, the Ford Mustang, based heavily on the Falcon’s unitized frame design but with no compromises about its youthful fun intention. For the 1964 year, Ford added a Sprint Package which gave the Falcon a 260 V8, stiffer suspension, a louder exhaust and chrome engine dress up goodies. Because the Mustang had the same options that the Sprint had for only a small amount more, the Sprint never caught on resulting in low production and sales numbers. Even with the addition of the 289 V8 in late 64 the Sprint was overshadowed by the Mustang, and was discontinued after 1965. The Mustang dealt Falcon sales in North America a blow from which they would never recover.

Finished in period correct Rangoon Red with white convertible top. Older high quality paint finish that shows very well with some minor imperfections. Nice trim and brightwork, showing some signs of age. Bumpers show beautifully boasting recent re-chrome. Correct wheel covers and white wall tires.

Excellent recent interior restoration. Professionally upholstered seats sporting Red with White insert color combo. Correct simulated wood steering wheel in excellent condition.
