1970 Ford Mustang Base Convertible 2-Door Additional Info:

For sale is my 1970 Mustang Convertible. I purchased this car in Phoenix, AZ in June 2007, and still have one of the original licence plates. The car originally had a straight 6, 200 cu in engine with a 3 speed manual transmission. I picked up the car and drove it 1500 miles home, where I started the restoration process. In the first 9 months, the car was completelydismantled down to a unibody shell, where the car proved to be a solid Arizona car, with the only rust being in the floor boards. This is common as older convertible tops tend to leak, and the carpet holds the water on the floor. All the paint was removed to bare metal with chemicals, and the floor boards were replaced. The car was sent to paint, where months later an unsatisfactory car emerged, and restoration stopped. The car was placed into storage and sat for 8 years.
Forward to November 2016. The car was pulled out of storage and the restoration process continued. The car is virtually new. I will try to describe all the work and upgrades that have been completed.
PAINT:Theunsatisfactory paint from 2008 was sanded down, the car gaps checked, 4 block sand guide coats, sealed and painted with 3 coats of Ford Australia Matador Red Pearl, and 3 coats of clear. The car was wet sanded, and buffed and polished to a stage 4.
INTERIOR:A new Ford interior package was purchased in 2007 and was put in storage with the car in 2008. The interior package included carpet, upholstery, door panels and new convertible top.A new complete dash was purchased and installed (not just a dash pad or cover)An after market Pioneer stereo was installed but only operates the factory speaker space in the dash. Brackets are available for easy swap to an original 1970 Ford radio, if you can locate one. I do not have the original radio. The after market radio has blue tooth for your phone, but is difficult to hear with a convertible top down.
ENGINE:NEW, stroker 347 was purchased from Prestige Motorsports in Concord, NC ( please visit their website ). The engine build was purchased as a turn key engine / transmission combination, was broken in on adyno, and the engine produced 425 HP and 420 Ft lbs oftorque on thedyno. I will try to add a build sheet for the engine with the description. This engine is designed forcruising with performance when needed.
A build sheet is available from Prestige Motorsports for the engine and transmission, upon request.
TRANSMISSION:NEW: Tremec TKO 600 .64 Ford Base Transmission Package. TCET 5008: Ford Tremec TKO 600 T5 (5 Speed) . MCL-75207-Clutch Kit, StreetPro, Organic/Ceramic, 1 1/16 in Diameter shaft, 26 spline, 10.5 in Diameter Disc Kit (Hydraulic clutch).
BRAKES:The car was upgraded from 4 drum brakes, to front disc brakes. All parts in the upgrade were purchased new, and original equipment for a 1970 Ford Mustang.
SUSPENSION:The suspension was completely replaced with new springs, shocks, bushings and hardware. All parts and components are period correct for a 1970 Ford Mustang with a 302 block engine. The rear leaf springs were also replaced.
STEERING:The car was upgraded from manual steering to power steering. Again, all new parts were used, and period correct for a 1970 Ford Mustang. The point of using period correct parts is for easy reference and repair, should the car need replacement parts in the future.
MISC:All new wiring. A New Painless wiring harness was installed throughout the car.A new gas tank and sending unit was installed.New gauge lenses, bulbs, circuit board were installed. Two of the indicator bulbs seem to have gone out and I will attempt to replace them before shipping. Also, the odometer works, but a number is out of alignment, so this should be corrected when replacing the bulbs. Essentially this car is only on it's second tank of gas since it has been back on the road.Bumpers and body chrome has been re-chromed. All marker lights, and tail lights have been replaced with new chrome bezels and lenses.Magnum 500 style rims, 17" x 7 " (new) with new rubber (less than 500 miles). The convertible roof has all new seals, as do the doors, and windows. Pretty much everything in the engine bay was replaced with new parts, including the washer fluid bottle, pump and hoses.
This was an original Arizona car, and although that preserves metal, the climate is very hard on rubbers, gaskets, seals and plastics.
This car is great to drive. Acceleration is amazing, quick, fun! Breaking with the new disc brakes is very good. The car drives very straight, handles well and can't go more than 3 blocks without looks, and positive comments.
More pictures are available upon request and please ask any questions you may have about the car. I can also provide a copy of a government mechanical inspection, and the build sheet for the power train from Prestige Motorsports.
I do have a lower black air dam for the front of the car. I could not decide if I wanted it installed or not, but it is included with the car.
I do have a copy of the original title, which was surrendered to US Customs upon exiting the USA in 2007.
SHIPPING:Buyer is responsible for all the shipping costs of the car. I can provide assistance in getting the car preprepared for shipping, and loading or moving the car to a convenient location for transport. You could also purchase this car and just drive it home. I have experience with international shipping requirements and can get this car to a point in Montana for easier pick up, as well as to a port for international shipping. For USA customers, there are no duties or taxes due at the border upon importing into the USA. I can complete any required paperwork for Customs, and the fees at the border are less than $100.
A $1,000.00 non refundable deposit will be required within 72 hours of purchase
