1950 Ford Custom Additional Info:

1950 Ford Custom 4-door sedan, ossibly the best design Ford had in that era. The chrome “jet intake” grill was very popular then and remains so 65 years later.

This rust-free Oklahoma car underwent a complete restoration about ten years ago and has only been driven a few hundred miles to local shows around the neighborhood since.

Body is very solid and paint is very good with just a few tiny nicks and dings here and there.

Flathead V-8 starts right up, dles quietly, rives like a dream. Electric fuel pump ensures constant flow of gas to the engine regardless of speed and terrain. Headers and dual stainless steel exhaust with custom chrome tips ensure this engine can breathe. Transmission is a 3-speed on the tree that shifts smoothly. New 6 volt Interstate battery installed in February 2016. It received a $1,000 brake job during the restoration so it stops as well as it goes.

Dashboard is darn near perfect, he 18 inch steering wheel is very clean with only a couple of very small dings but no cracks. The interior, ncluding seats, ustom-cut carpet, eadliner, nd rear shelf are all very nice. All glass is very good with no discoloration or cracks and all windows roll down and up as designed. Windshield wipers work great. Four sets of aftermarket seat belts installed. Has the rare chrome tissue box mounted under the dash. All badging, oth inside and outside, s perfect. Both the factory dash-mounted AM radio and the clock were rebuilt during the restoration but unfortunately, either works right now. The odometer shows 31,635 miles and, iven the condition of this car, ay well be accurate but I cannot be 100 percent sure.

The trunk, ngine compartment and underside are all spotless. All chrome and stainless, oth inside and outside, re close to perfect, lindingly shiny in bright sunlight. Four 2 1/2-inch whitewall G78-15 tires were new at the time of restoration and are still in very good condition; the spare tire has a custom vinyl cover which makes the trunk look really good.

I have a folder of receipts that exceeds $14,500 and although I don’t see a receipt for paint in the folder I do see a written estimate of $10,000. It may not have cost that much but we both know that a good paint job isn’t cheap.

Add in hundreds of hours of sweat equity labor plus the cost of the car itself and that means if you wanted to build this car today it would be between two and three times my asking price. If you want a go-to-the-show car without busting your knuckles or your wallet, hen please consider this car.
