'THE WIDOW'S SHELBY'

Every car has a story. Not much is known about this car after it was ordered and built on July 18 1968 and delivered to CLAYTON FORD in Clayton, NC. John picked up this GT500KR in 1972 from a theft recovery with 20,000 miles (NOT 126,000) and the 428 was gone, but everything else was there. John had a 351 installed and many other things fixed at Holman and Moody and Ralph Moody's shops (see pictures of some of the receipts) in 1974. Ever hear of H & M charge/write a receipt for 26 CENTS!? John decided to do the car RIGHT since it was so rare being one of 125 GT-500KR (428CJ) AND 4-SPEED AND A/C! John had the bad luck of picking the wrong restoration shop and after 7 years and a LOT of wasted money and missing parts he took it toone of THE BEST Shelby Restoration shops (PAULS) in the country right in his home town of Cincinnati, Ohio. Pauls did a FANTASTIC job and installed a correct 428 and located any missing parts with NOS or certified correct. October 2001 Mustang Monthly has this story of the car to this point.

Soon after the #1 restoration was completed,in 2001 Johncrashedand died in his private plane, leaving a widow and children. John's wife could not bring herself to sell John's beloved Shelby after all the years of frustrations and then seeing it completed RIGHT, so she kept it at Pauls in climate controlled storage and driven frequently and fluids changed every 6 months. In 2005 it was taken out to a Shelby Concourse in Cincinnati and won 1st place. Now, Johns wife has decided to sell the Shelby to obtain 'college money' for her children.

I have been asked to assist in the listing and sale as I have been into cars for 60of my 75 years and have an eBay rating of 100% for 1136 items. I did not list all the options, numbers, datesand statistics on this Shelby, but have a picture of the MARTI report that you can enlarge to get ALL that information. The car can be seen and driven with prior arrangements as this ad is to 'get it out there' and I don't expect an overnight check for the amount asked. Many people will question that the car has been restored and in storage for 15 years, BUT this car still looks and runs like the day the restoration was completed!

It has not been on 'the auction circuit', but with its history, color, options and quality of restoration, it would not surprise me to see it double in value in a few years.
