1983 Fiat Other Pininfarina Azzurra - coveted model year - 60K Additional Info:

1983 Fiat Spider - 60k Azzurra BlueManufactured at the Pininfarina coach builder plant
1983 Production numbers were a fraction of earlier model years.Built to a different standard. Signature color combination of Azzurra on Tan
Bit of History -This car was driven pretty regularly for the first 6 years of it's life. Well maintained and always garaged, it was used very sparingly from then on (less that 10k miles in 24 years). Auto history reports support mileage and history.
I owned a 1977 Fiat 124. Super fun car to drive. I have to admit this fuel-injected coach built model is in a different league. There is quite a bit of information out there about the series. The following link provides some good information -https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1983-pininfarina-azzurra
Exterior Overall --The overall impression of the vehicle is consistent with a well preserved, low mileage original. The driver's seats shows a bit of wear. There are a few chips and scratches. The right side rocker panel was replaced about 3 years ago. The paint was applied to very high standards. There are a few nicks in the rear valance behind the bumper. Super solid, dry car. Exterior Tour -

This particular color combination was regarded as the flagship example. It was used extensively in marketing campaigns to help demonstrate a car Pininfarina was clearly proud of.

Trim & Lenses -

Lights and chrome trim are also in excellent shape. This model has a dial on top of the steering column to turn on "parking" lights. Clever design/build details like the trunk lock placement abound.

Pininfarina Details -The Pininfarina badge is proudly displayed on these models. This includes the racing flags that are a part of the heritage of the group. Quite a few details demonstrate the quality they were shooting for in the very last runs of the model.
Interior -The choice of materials and level of detail in the interior also also to a higher standard of quality. The leather on the drivers seat has some cracks from use, but is now like an old glove and worth probably worth preserving as is. Overall condition is what you would expect from a car living a limited use, pampered life.

Top & Boot -The soft top is original and in solid condition. The seams are tight and the vinyl free from rips or tears. The rear window has fogged over time and vinyl shows typical color fades from age. A new replacement would certainly bring it up a notch. But, you've got a veryserviceabletop that hasn't seen the light of day in a long time.
Wheels & Tires -The wheels on this model are Italian made and coveted. They are in excellent condition. The tires are brand new. The spare has never been on the ground. You don't need a thing. Just get in a drive!
Mechanicals, Engine Bay & VIN -Everything needed to do to get a car ready to drive and enjoy has been tended to. It was time to do it, and it was done right. The fuel tank was removed and boiled. New calipers, discs and brake lines were installed. A new clutch was installed and the fly wheel resurfaced. Work is well documented. A sizeable investment to prepare it for the road. Now, it's is ready to roll!
ID plates and VIN numbers are on the dash, door jams and engine compartment. Some panels have a stamp too. All are correct and matching.
Windows & Glass -Glass is in excellent shape throughout. The passenger side wing window was replaced after a garage incident. The side mirrors go through the glass. At one point it was knocked and broke the glass. An aftermarket mirror is attached from the outside now. The original mirror is included with the car. You'll have to drill the hole out to install it.
This model included power windows. The switch on the dash is brand new. It was replaced, but all along, the problem was probably temperamental wiring in the driver's door. It continues to missoccasionally. As if they knew they would have problems, a manual crank was provided to override the problem. I got a good laugh out of that one. It is in the glove box ready to use. You just pop off a trim piece on the door panel and crank away!
Trunk, Jack & Toolkit -The battery can be found in the right side of the trunk compartment. The entire trunk area is in great shape. It is particularly reassuring to see a bottom nearly as clean as the day it was assembled. The tool kit & jack have probably never been used.
Undercarriage -It is particularly important with these cars to start with a solid example. Some roadsters are treated to the good life. This one certainly was. Very solid, clean and honest. Jack stand holes and rocker panels clean straight and solid.
The Fiat Spider is a great driving car. You are in touch with the pavement at all times. It is super easy to fling around and you're going to love the connected driving feel. It was also a very advanced car - disc brakes, 5spd manual gear box, fuel injection and the overhead cam power range. The design elements were well regarded by the very company that penned them. It seems they wanted to pay tribute to such a capable sporting car buy building it to really high standards right in their plant. If you're in the market for a roadster, the Pinanfarina built Spider is worth considering. If you like well preserved originals, you've just found one. A really nice modern classic.
