1979 Fiat 124 Spider 2000 Additional Info:

This is a nearly all original car with some updates. The car runs and drives, however the exhaust system is not hooked up due to removing the old catalytic converter that was bad. I have all the pieces to hook the exhaust back up and do a cat-delete,but I don't have the time to do it. I've owned the car for a few years and I've driven it as a daily driver every summer since I've had it. Previous owner that I bought the car from told me that the motor, transmission, and rear end were rebuilt some time ago. I have no way of knowing that or verifying that. I have never had an issue with the drive train. To my knowledge the paint is original and shows. Rear section of the exhaust is an ANSA performance exhaust/muffler. Runs and drives.

Since I've owned it I've put well over $2500 in it. Here is a list of everything I've done to the car over the last couple years:

  • New vinyl top
  • Carpet
  • OEM floor mats
  • Pioneer stereo head unit with Aux/USB
  • x2 pioneer 6.5" speakers in front
  • x2 pioneer 6x9 speakers with box in backseat
  • New OEM ignition coil
  • OEM spark plug wires and spark plugs
  • Halogen Head lights, with wiring and relays
  • New side mirrors
  • Inner tie rods
  • Outer tie rods
  • Upper ball joints
  • Lower ball joints
  • Steering linkage bar with new ball joint
  • Two new tires on front (rear tires are like new)
  • New upgraded 110 amp alternator
  • New starter
  • I dropped the steering wheel column down andput a realAlpha Romeo spider steering wheel in it (I have the original wheel to go with this car). This has made it more comfortable to drive. Can easily be converted back to original set up.
  • Performance exhaust header pipe (needs to be hooked up to the exhaust)
  • Battery
  • Battery cables and ends
  • Redid the floors
  • Floor carpetinsulation
  • Floor sound deadening insulation
  • Aluminum intake
  • Weber 26 27 2bbl carb
  • Air cleaner with washable filter
  • Possibly more that I'm not thinking of...

Known issues:

  • Windshield has a few small cracks in the upper corner of the driver side. I tried removing the originalconvertible latches to replace them and the windshield cracked. The cracksare not noticeable and I've drove the car all summer after that happened and they did not spread.
  • Fuel lines have a small leak. I bought a spool of rubber fuel line to fix this but Inever got around to it.
  • Exhaust system needs to be hookedback up. Right nowthe exhaust is just aopen header pipe. The rear section of the exhaust is still in the car. From the end of the header to the mid section of the car needs to be hooked up. I have the original down pipes to connect to the header. I also have along section of flex pipe and a glass pack to delete the catalytic converter.
  • There is a gasket that is leaking on thecoolant line that runs next to the header pipe. Ibought the gasket to replace it butI can not locate it at the moment. If Ifind it, I'll throw it in with the car.
  • Battery is dead. The clock in the dash runs the battery down if the car sits for a while. I have not startedthe carsince last fall due to my battery charger coming up missing.
  • Body has some rust coming up around the wheel wells on the quarters, along the rockers, fenders, and on the front of the hood. The car has been in the Midwest for a long time and this is to be expected. Wouldn't take much to do a little body work and get these areas fixed.
  • There is a hole in the driver side door from the original mirror. This can be fiber glassed over, patched, or the original mirror could go back on the car. The original side mirrorwas broken and I felt that it sat way too close to see anything out of when it wasn't broken. New mirrors sit back by the wing windows and are more effective.

I have a clear and clean title in hand. The original steering wheel, exhaust parts, new original convertible windshield latch mounts, and spool of rubber fuel line will be included in this sale. The car will have to be taken home on a trailer or be towed due to it being open headers. I'm sure you would get pulled over trying to drive it with open headers. I do not have time to put the exhaust together, it will need some modifications with the header. I work 55 hours a week and I am helping my fiancée plan our wedding. The car is sold "as is" with no warranty. Please message me with any questions.
