1979 Fiat Other Additional Info:

1979 Fiat X-1/9 in good, used condition. I will be traveling out of the country frequently over the next year, and I have decided I will not have the time to devote to my X. It is my third, and I have had it a little over a year. As far as I know, it has always been a California car. It has no rust and is basically stock. All electrics work, and I drive it a couple times a week on local trips. During my ownership I have sourced OEM parts and replaced the steering wheel, smog pump, HVAC panel and assembly, window winders, and the unobtanium rear console interior light (not installed yet). I have added nice performance spark plug wires, new plugs, and a new air filter. In no particular order, this car needs the following: full transaxle fluid service -- no telling when the fluid was last changed; oil filter/oil change (I have both and will include in the sale for the new buyer; horn needs troubleshooting (clicks but no sound); headlight switch (works just fine but is a bit wonky at times); cooling system service (doesn't run hot, I don't know when the last service took place); and new heater valve (current valve is frozen, so HVAC temperature control is frozen).
Other items to consider include, the photos make the car look really nice, but the paint has nicks and flaws consistent with the car's age. At some point in the past the hood and at least one front fender were repainted. I have included a photo of the slight "prang" by the left front headlight (but lights work fine). The driver's seat is in poor condition, but the passenger seat is in great condition. I added sheepskins rather than go through the hassle of reuphostering. Tires are in decent condition. I believe the clutch was replaced at some time during the last five years, and I know the slave cylinder certainly was. However, I do not have any paperwork for any of this maintenance, as it didn't accompany the car when I bought it.
This X runs, shifts, and stops just fine. It would greatly benefit from some fettling and more attention than I am able to provide, however. The car is located in San Diego, and I highly encourage pre-purchase inspections and drives, if at all possible. This X is being sold where is, as is. For California buyers, I will not smog the car prior to sale. Please be aware of this condition, and do not bid if you do not want to accept the responsibility for smogging if you are going to keep the car in Cali. It is currently registered, insured, and driven in San Diego. It did pass our smog test last go-round, but I do not want to hassle with it going forward. Sorry about that.
This auction is No Reserve. The opening bid is very reasonable for an X in this condition, but I suppose the market will be the judge of that. I am leaving the country for a work trip near the end of October, but I will work with the buyer regarding holding onto the car while shipping is being arranged (or pick up). I non-refundable $200 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close via PayPal. For final purchase, I will accept cash or a cashier's check.
In the meantime, if there are any questions whatsoever, please contact me via ebay, and I will do my best to answer them as quickly as possible. Thanks very much, and good luck!
