1982 Eagle Model 10 - 40 foot passenger bus

Make: Eagle
Type: Charter Bus
Fuel: Diesel
Item location: Pasadena, California, United States

Eagle Additional Info:

This is an all original 1982 Eagle Model 10 passenger bus. The bus was originally purchased by the US General Services Administration (GSA) for school transport use on an Indian reservation in Wyoming. The bus was later sold to a youth group, and then to Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, who owned it for approximately 6 years and used it for student transport across the country. I purchased the bus in June 2016 from Northwest College, as they were upgrading to newer and smaller vehicles.
I have all of the maintenance records for the bus from Northwest College forward, and also have original parts and service manuals. The mileage should be just under 300K, per the maintenance receipts. The engine is a Detroit Diesel turbocharged 6V92, with an Allison HT740 automatic transmission.
Bus runs excellent with absolutely no operational issues. Both the main coach A/C system and the driver's A/C system work perfectly. The heat also functions. Engine has a jake brake, which I've been told works, but have not had the opportunity to test on mountain driving. Bus also has a rear restroom, however I have never used it (toilet only, no sink).
All seats are original fabric, though I had the black vinyl headrests replaced with red to better match the interior colors. I also replaced the original driver's seat with a much more comfortable air ride seat.

I've performed the following upgrades over the past 4 years:
  • Replaced stock mirrors with Ramco chrome power adjustable mirrors (these were the mirrors used on later model Eagles)
  • Replaced steel wheels with new Alcoa brushed aluminum wheels
  • Replaced cracked dash board and all dash panels (the integrated dash lighting works)
  • Replaced cable operated throttle with Williams air throttle
  • Replaced cable operated transmission selector with Stone Bennett air operated shifter
  • Replaced original round headlights with updated rectangular headlights (I still have the round headlight panel, and will include with the bus)
  • Replaced exterior door dump air valve
  • Replaced steering wheel with leather wrapped Eagle wheel
  • Replaced various exterior turn signal, brake and reverse lights & reflectors
  • Painted front cap of bus
  • Replaced air wipers with electric motors
  • Replaced destination sign
  • Added air horns
  • Replaced all plastic wood grained passenger seat backs and various armrest components with new old stock parts
  • Replaced all baggage door and engine bay gas shocks
  • Replaced all shocks with correct Gabriel dual action shocks
  • Performed full service (oil, transmission fluid, coolant, oil filter, transmission filter, fuel filters, air filter), lubed chassis, replaced wheel seals
  • Installed new batteries & battery cut-off switches
  • Replaced condenser fan & alternator belts
  • Replaced front tires
  • Replaced muffler tail pipe
Everything works on this bus. It will easily do 75 MPH (or faster) on the freeway. Eagles are prone to rust, but this bus has virtually none. I've only been able to find rust in a couple of isolated spots on this bus, including the rail under the forward curb side baggage door. The tube steel under and in the baggage compartments are all rust free. Suspension is in great condition. All glass is good. All lights work, though I haven't checked all of the passenger reading lights. There are some cracks in the interior plastic cap below the two upper windshields (smaller glass at the top of the bus). This is common on these buses, and I would have replaced replaced the plastic if the parts were available. The aluminum siding was previously washed with an acid wash at some point, which made the finish cloudy and somewhat faded. There are a few spots of peeling clear coat on the paint at the top of the bus. And the old decal impressions from Northwest College remain, but are hard to see. All tires have excellent tread. As mentioned above, two front tires are new.
Bus will include misc. Eagle parts, including one new windshield, one piece of passenger glass, several extra turn signal, brake, reverse & clearance lights, engine belts, etc.
This would be an amazing candidate for a conversion. I have it registered as a historical vehicle, as California has very strict air emissions regulations.
I have lots of pictures (I'm limited to 24 here) that I'd be happy to send.
I'd have no reservations about driving this bus across the country and would not anticipate any issues. I am happy to assist with coordination on transport, or may be able to deliver for a fee.
