Up for sale is a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440-6 Pack. This is a real sublime green V code car and is a true 1 of 1. I purchased this car as a roller in 2013 after it had been sitting in a field in Nebraska in the 1980's and then changed hands and moved to North Carolina in 2003 and remained in the same conditon as a roller with no drivetrain and still wearing its original paint (or what was left of it). I had the car physically inspeced by Dave Wise (one of the countries leading Mopar experts) and Rob Wolf from Mopar Collector's Guide Magazine. I have a full inspection report from Dave Wise and the car had a 8 page artilce written about it in Mopar Collector's Guide. It was also a feature at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in 2014 while it was in mid restoration.
It was agreed upon that this indeed was a real deal V code Charger with both factory Air Conditioning and cruise control and neither option was available on a 440-6 pack. It retains its original fender tag which also decodes as a E87 V code 6 pack car and also includes the codes for air conditioning and cruise control so it was not just a mistake on the V designation in place of a U code 4 barrel 440 engine. Without having the original motor in the car there was no way to tell how it rolled off the assembly line and if at the last minute they may have just installed a 4 barrel intake on it to make all the options function correctly since they never made a throttle linkage for a 6 pack with cruise control. I made the decision to do a full blown rotossorie restoration according to the original fender tag.
The body retains all of its original sheet metal with the exception of the center of the trunk floor and was replaced to factory specs and looks original. It has all the vin stamps on the radiator support and quarter panel trunk lips and the dash board has never been removed from the car. Everything on the car has been fully restored or has been replaced with correct parts. Several parts were extremley time consuming and very hard to locate but after 2 years of working on it on a regular basis the final product came out outstanding. It has a date code correct drivetrain and have a complete book on the motor build.
I have had the car completed for over 3 years and got it really well dialed in. It is a true show stopper at every car show it goes too and the paint and body are so straight and shiny that it glows in the sunlight. It can be driven with confidence down the road and is a great driving car. It has great power and tons of torque, the only minor modifiaction was a slightly larger then factory camshaft.
