The DMC-12 has been my dream car since I was a kid and I was fortunate to purchase this one in September of 2009 while I was living in San Diego. I have had the car in Wakefield, MA for the last nine years where it is now. This car has 107k miles and has been driven regularly over the years. This is a 1983 model with two-tone grey and black interior. Original seats were black. I’ve been told that the last 500 cars were assembled this way. Many things were upgraded early on like the fuse box. Other things I had upgraded or restored like the front suspension and the frame. I have many years of receipts back to 1991 including over $4k that I’ve done in the last nine years. This car still puts a smile on my face every time I see it, and pretty much anyone else who sees it wherever I drive. Truly one of the most enjoyable cars to own. A good running 5-spd Delorean is rarely available under $20k.

Overall, this is a nice running and driving, nice looking DMC that’s ready to go to cruise nights while having plenty of room for easy restoration on the weekends. It starts on the first turn of the key every time. While it looks good and runs well, the DMC-12 is a car that always needs maintenance. Here are the things that need attention:

Interior:

-needs headliner. All panels included. Interior door roof panels are off.

-Dash binnacle has a crack. Dash crack near glove box cracked

-Carpet needs replacing throughout. DMC floormats included

-Passenger window motor needs replacing

-Has CD player with rear 6x9’s but possibly wrong wattage

-Door rubber is loose in areas.

-Telescopic steering column doesn’t like to be adjusted

-Original seats were totally shot when I got the car so I installed the racing seats. Couple scratches on bolsters.

-Drivers door missing pull strap. Cracked lock console on door.

-Passenger side window pillar molding peeled from the sun

Exterior:

-Largest blemish is on the passenger rear wheel well about 3” long

-small half inch scratch on top of left front fender

-roof T-panel slight dent from rear louvers needing adjusting

-Bumpers were painted silver to match stainless (my preference over factory grey) front has small chips.

-Wheels could use powder coating

-The front frame had rot developing and was professionally repaired 2 years ago. The frame is now solid throughout.

-missing a small piece of side molding about 1 inch rear drivers side

-Engine cover stays up when leaning on louvers. Works fine

-front trunk compartment is ok, maybe not show worthy

-Common door locking problem when doors close sometimes. Doors open, hang and close perfectly otherwise

Mechanical:

-Timing chain cover gasket needs replacing (included). I only drive a couple hundred miles per year so I simply wipe the oil off each spring

-AC has always been disconnected. Belt included. I’ve assumed it doesn’t work

-Gas gauge has never worked. Easy replacement in front gas tank easy to access.

-Original coolant overflow tank. Works fine, but the new stainless ones look nicer

-new shocks and lowering springs were installed in the front

-clutch has always grabbed well. The 5-spd manual is the BEST thing about driving this car.

-Something has always drained the battery. Previous owner installed a battery kill switch in the cockpit which I always use.

-The interior roof panels are currently removed. The black marker writings seen on the stainless door roof interior is from the Ireland workers dated 1981-1982. I believe all DMC's have this if you remove the panels, but unsure. You can see the signatures and dates in the photos and video. The original roof panels are included, but new headliner is needed.

The car has been located in Wakefield, MA since 2009. I live out of state and have driven it 1500 miles in that time. I simply don’t have the time to drive it and must pass it on.

Serious buyers should contact me and I can speak on the phone. If you are very serious after speaking I might be able to show the car in person on Saturday July 7 morning. It is not registered and you will not be allowed to drive it. The buyer should trailer it home if further than 20 miles just to be safe.

Bidders must have at least 5 ebay transactions or please contact me before bidding. $500 paypal non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment via wire or check within 10 days. Please have the funds ready before bidding. I would rather not ship this without the buyer being present. Thanks
