1971 Datsun Z-Series Additional Info:

This 1971 Datsun 240Z Series 1 was acquired by the seller from an individual in 2017 as a parts car for another 1970 Series 1 restoration but was never used. Manufactured in 1/71 with VIN # 20325 as one of the last Series one. The title was lost by the previous owner and is being sold with a bonded Texas title with surety bond with approx. 8 months left before converting to Clear Texas title. The car is described as largely complete with all the Series 1 features includin, pillar emblems, vented hatch, vertical defrost on back glass, steering wheel and gas door lock, etc . The car was originally finished in 919 Yellow but has been repainted silver. The motor is an L-24 but not numbers matching and does not turn over. It is a P30 block with an E88 head and 3 screw domed SU carbs. This is a full restoration project but very complete car.

Noted areas of corrosion include the floor pans, battery tray area, rocker panels and back hatch deck, along with surface and rust bubbles in other areas of the body. The previous owner had started sanding the car and it has been primed to prevent additional rusting.

There is damage to the front and rear of the car from previous towing prior to my purchase. The front bumper and apron are damaged and the gas tank has been dented in the rear. It doesn’t appear to have ever been in a collision. Some repairs pieces are being included jn the sale. Both floor pans a rusted out and will need to be replaced along with the doglegs and some other areas on the car

The dash is in fairly good shape with just one small crack. All original gauges are intact and the odometer shows79764 miles. The front windshield is cracked.

The 2.4-liter straight-six shows engine number L24-128567 stamped on the engine as shown in the gallery below. The car does not run and the condition of the drivetrain is unknown. It has a 4-speed manual gearbox, said to be the original unit. The car was equipped with factory or dealer added A/C but compressor is missing. The engine was partially dismantled when I bought and has been re-assembled to show completeness.

The spare tire well has some surface rust but nothing major and trunk floors are shown in the photo above. Current wheels are not original to the car but I do have two original steel wheels that are included.
