1971 Datsun Z-Series 240Z Additional Info:

RW Auto Classics proudly presents this 1971 Datsun Series 1 240Z. This is a great start to a high dollar restoration as it is a matching number manual transmission car, with an E31 head. Originally a 907 Dark Green, this car was repainted a metallic blue some years ago. You can still see the green on the firewall where the VIN stamp is present. We used this car as a daily for a couple weeks and it drove fine. Our plans for restoration have changed as our number of projects have grown beyond our capacity. So, it is now time to say goodbye to yet another Z car from the fleet.

The exterior and body of this Z are in fair condition. The paint covers most of the car, but chips are present on all sides. There is some rust in a couple of the panels, we tried to take a bunch of pictures so that you can see what all is going on (to see more pictures scroll down below the description). Most of the exterior parts are there, the bumpers are not smashed, and the lower valance is in good shape. The rear has some metal plate attached that I have not seen on another 240. No major dents. All the glass is the original Nissan stuff and has the vertical lines in the defrost on the rear hatch.
Mechanically the car is sound, but a tune up and some brake work could be in the future. The car seems to be leaking from many of the main components and will need to be attended to before driving consistently. This was a daily driver for us, but sometimes we are bolder than the average bear. The car shifts great through the gears. It starts right up, and the choke mechanism operates as it should. Steering is pretty good too.
Electrically speaking the car is in very good condition. All the lights are working, and the gauges function well. The radio was wired externally to the fuse box, so as a safety precaution we capped these wires.
The interior is good and has quite a few of the original pieces. The radio was replaced some time ago and we do not have it. The carpet and seats were recently redone. The plastics and headliner are there and in okay condition.
Underneath the car there are many leaks and some rust, so this is a car that should be gone through before any extensive driving.
But, what a great project to jump into, as you will get the dollars back out of this one in the end. Or if you like, you could perform some maintenance and just drive it the way it is. With prices on these hitting into the 50k plus range for a good restoration you can’t go to wrong here.
If you have any other questions or would like to make an offer, please give us a call @ 425-556-0261 or message us on eBay. We are starting this auction low to sell and letting it go at NO RESERVE.
