1978 Datsun Z-Series Additional Info:

This 1978 Datsun 280Z was purchased in 2016from a friend who had owned it for about 13 years. It is powered by a carbureted inline-six with a 240Z exhaust manifold paired to a 5-speed manual and new 3.91 rear end and turbo exhaust. The car was restored by the previous owner and I backdated it with the bumpers, seats covers, airbox, and steering wheel from a 240Z.I have performed extensive finishing work, including a recent clutch and transmission service. The car benefits from a fresh alignment in preparation for sale and is equipped withcold-blowing, upgraded to134a A/C system, Rota wheels, and rear window louvers. This Z is sold with records for the last 14years and a clean Georgia title in the my name.

The car was given a restoration a few years ago by my friend, the previous owner. It has won numerous awards including Best in Show. Itwas repainted in BMWAtlanta Blue Metallic, but there is a small run on the right A-pillar and some very minor paint chips from normal use. During the restoration, minor rust repair was performed in the doglegs and rear quarters.

All of the interior features work correctly, from the upgraded and cold-blowing A/C to the new high-intensity bulbs in the dash and dome lights. The stock stereo has been replaced with a modern JVC unit with USB port and JBL speakers. The odometer indicates 47000 but I can not verify the accuracy.

The 2.8-liter inline-six has a 240Z exhaust manifold and is breathing through dual SU carburetors from Z-Therapy. A240Z airbox was fitted and painted to match the exterior. The most recent services included a tire rotation and alignment performed this week, and a recent transmission and clutch service were performed by my Z specialist here in Atlanta.

The only noted issues are a slight notchiness in first and second gear thatgoes away once the car has warmed up and a new dash cap that hides a few cracks in the original dash. I have included new door trim that can be installed by the new owner if they so desire.

Records for the last 14 years are included covering the restoration and paintwork along with the owners manuals and warranty books. The initial restoration totals some $19k, and more recent refurbishment performed by me adds up to about $6k.

For all of you out there who think you can build this car for even close to this price, I would humbly suggest for you to price out parts, paint, and materials. A decent paint job can run you $5k. Even if someone gives you a car to work with, a restoration can run from $25k for a driver quality car with no mods to up to $50k for a concours restoration. This car was built to be a bridge between the 240Z and 280Z, and I believe it's the best of both worlds.

Serious inquires only please! The reserve amount is extremely reasonable. That being said, I will not entertain low ball offers or joy rides. Please don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. This is cash only sale, and I will present the Georgia title and Bill of Sale once payment has been received via Bank Wire.

Please ask questions before buying. This is a nicely restored 280Z, but it is 40 years old, so I can't warranty or guarantee that you won't have issues or needs as time goes by. The car is sold as-is.

Buyer is responsible for all transportation costs.
