AFTER 25 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, I HAVE DECIDED TO SELL MY DATSUN 280Z.I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROMMY COUSINS BEST FRIEND IN SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN 1991 AND DROVE IT HOME -2000 MILES. SHE WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER, I AM THE SECOND OWNER.

SHE LIKED THE280Z SO MUCH, SHE KEPT IT.A CONDO RESIDENTWITH AN "EXTRA" CAR INCALIF CAN BE A CHALLENGE. WHEN THE LICENSE CAME DUE (NOV 91), SHE DECIDED TO SELL IT. IWAS IN TOWN VISITING MY COUSIN, AND I BOUGHT THE CAR.

NOTE 1; MARY WAS IN A JOBWITH CLOSE TO HOME TRAVEL, IN AND OUT OF THE CAR OFTEN. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, IT HAD82,000 MILES ON IT. IN THAT TIME, THIS 100 POUND WOMAN HADWORE OUT;;;; THE LEADING EDGES OF THEDRIVERS SEAT UPHOLSTERY, THE DRIVERS"z" FLOORMAT (HIGH HEELS), AND THE DRIVERSSEAT BELT RETRACTOR (BROKE& I REPLACED IN 1992)

CALIFORNIA CAR; IT WAS THEREFORE SUBJECT TO LIFESTYLE, HEAT, AND SUNLIGHT.

LIFESTYLE; I BELEIVE THIS CAR WAS TAKEN THRU A BRUSH CAR WASH EVERY DAY OR EVERY OTHER DAY IN CALIF. SILVER PAINT IS NOT KNOWN FOR ITS LONGEVITY, AND THE PAINT IS WORN OUT WITH VERY VISIBLE BRUSH AND SWIRL MARKS-SEE PHOTO OF LEFT 1/4 PANEL. I HAVE NEVER WAXED THIS CAR. IF YOU NOTICE; THE OUTSIDE MIRRORS AND THE 280ZX FENDER EMBLEMS, THE FINISH IS WORN OF TO THE WHITE PLASTIC BASE COLOR.VERY VISIBLE IN BRIGHT SUNLIGHT, OTHERWISE NOT SO MUCH. THE CAR HAS HAD SOME TOUCH UP PAINT WORK, SO I PRESUME IT HAS BEEN INA MINORSCRAPE OR TWO. THE LEFT FRONT AREA FENDER HAS A KINK IN IT-PROBABLY A PAINTLESS DENT REMOVALPERSON COULD REPAIR IT

HEAT & SUNLIGHT; NOT GOOD FOR THE PAINT EITHER, BUT HARSH ON THE INTERIOR. THE PHOTOS OF THE DOOR PANELSCLEARLY SHOW NO ABUSE, BUT THESUN DARKENED THE UPPER EDGES OF THE DOOR PANELS. THE ROOF GOT SO HOT, THE HEADLINER MATERIAL SEPERATES FROM IT AND MUST BE REGLUED YEARLY. THE RIGHT REAR CORNER OF THE TRUNK CARPET(WHERE NOT COVERED BY T-TOP BAGS) COOKED AND DISINTEGRATED. THE SILVER COLORED PORTIONS OF THE REAR VINYL COVERING HAS DISCOLORED, SOME SEPERATED AND DROPPED.

MAINTENANCE; I DONT HAVE ANY RECORDS FROM THE 1ST OWNER. THERE ARE OIL CHANGE STICKERS ON THE DOOR FROM 2 DIFF DATSUN DEALERS. SHE TOLD ME THAT ALL NECESSARY WORK ON THE CAR WAS DONE AT ADATSUN ONLY REPAIR GARAGE CLOSE BY, AND TO GO AND TALK WITH HIM. ITALKED WITH THE SHOP OWNER, HE KNEWTHE CARVERY WELL. HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, THE OWNER TENDED TO IT WELL. THE ONLY NEG WAS THE OWNER DID NOT INSTALL A DASH COVER TO PREVENTIT FROM CRACKING.(AND STILL IS).

HISTORY W/ 2ND OWNER; BEFORE LEAVING CALIF I DIDBUY A FULL SIZE SPARE TIRE-BUT DIDN'TBUY ALL NEW TIRES.NEAR DESERT CENTER, CALIF A TIRE WORE OUT. I INSTALLED THE FULL SIZE SPARE AND DROVE ONTOKINGMAN, ARIZ.,. THE ONLY SHOP WITH A MACHINE TO HANDLEALLOY RIMS HAD ASET OF TIRES, 1 SIZE TOO BIG. ASI WASRUSHING TO GET THRU/PAST THE ROCKIES BEFORE THE IMPENDING SNOW STORM HIT,I BOUGHT THEM.

ARRIVING HOME IN MICHIGAN WITH APPROX 84,000 MILES ON IT. CAR WAS STOREDAND HAS BEEN STORED EVERY WINTER SINCE. I USED THE CAR AS A SECOND CAR,SUMMERS ONLY,DURING THEFIRST FEW YEARS HERE. IN AUGUST 1993, THE CAR HAD 100,500MILES ON IT.

THE MAJOR THINGS REPLACEDDURINGTHAT TIME; ;

1992-SEAT BELT RETRACTOR, IGNITION WIRES, WINDSHIELD, AND A VIPER ALARM SYSTEM (NEEDS RECONECTING).

1993; DISTRIBUTO, CAP AND ROTOR, IDLER ARM.

THE OIL WAS CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES. CAR ALWAYS RAN AND DROVE WELL, NEVER FAILED ME. BETWEEN 1993 AND 2015 THE CAR WASBASICALLY STORED, HARDLY USED, DRIVEN ONLY 4000.MILES, FOR A TOTAL OF 104,xxx.

IN LATE 2015, I DECIDED TO SELL THE CAR, AND IT WAS REMOVED FROM STORAGE. IT HAD NOT SEEN THE ROAD SINCE 2007 OR 08, AND IT NEEDED SOMEMAINTENANCE BEFORE ROAD WORTHY. IN 2015, WITH 104,xxx MILES ON IT, THE DATSUN RECEIVED;

NEW BATTERY

NEW CLUCH MASTER AND SLAVE CYLINDERS

NEW RADIATOR, ORIGINAL STYLE, not AN ALUMINUM ONE

NEW WATER PUMP, RADIATOR HOSES, MOSTHEATER HOSES, AND SOME VACUUM LINES.

REAR HATCH SUPPORT STRUTS, FRONT WIPER BLADES.

I HAVE KEPT MOST OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS I REMOVED, AND THE NEW OWNER CAN HAVE THEM IF HE SO DESIRES.

----THE CAR NEEDS A NEW MUEFFLER, AND A NEW EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET.

CAR WAS STORED 11-15THRU OCT-16. I HAVE PUT A FEW HUNDRED MILES ON IT IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS. TIRES DONT FEEL LUMPY, AND ALL SYSTEMS APPEAR AS OK AND FUNCTIONING INCLUDING THE A/C. I HAVE NOT USED THE CRUISE OR PARKING BRAKE IN PROB 20 YEARS, BUT I AM SURE THERE OK

SO THERE IT IS, A VERY GOOD USED CAR, FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION.THIS IS THE RIGHT KIND OF VEHICLE; WHEN I REMOVED THE RADIATOR AND THE ATTACHMENTS FOR THE CLUTCH CYLINDERS, ALL BOLTS CAME OUT LIKE IT WAS MADEA YEAR PRIOR-PRICELESS. FIT & FINISH ; THE PAINTIS WHAT IT IS, THE FIT IS AWESOME, ALL PANELS ARE ALIGNED, GAPS AREGREAT.A GOODYEAR, SNAPPYALLOY STYLE WHEELS SIMILAR TO CRAGAR SS, BRIGHT ALLOY ROCKER PANEL ONLY TRIM (vs. THE BLACK BELT), COMPLIMENTERY COLOR AND INTERIOR. THE 5 SPEED WITH ITS BOLT ACTION SHIFTING IS A DREAM TO DRIVE. CAR ISPICTURED HERE AS IT CAME FROM STORAGE WITH A HAND WASH JOB, NO DETAILING, RUBBING OR WAXING.

NOT ABUSED. THE ORIGINAL COLLAPSED SPARE HAS NEVER BEEN USED. IT HAS ITS ORIGINAL KEYS, ONE BEING THE "VALET" KEY, ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL KEY CODED MATCHNGLOCKING GAS CAP, WINDOW STICKER, OWNERS MANUAL, WARRANTY PAPER. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL T-TOP BAG, GOOD CONDITION.
