1972 Citroën Additional Info:

1972 Citroen SM with its Maserati 6 cylinder 4 cam engine and automatic transmission. Sports Luxury Futuristic all in one. I am attaching a link so interested or even curious lookers can grab a little history on this car. Very low production and only made for 4 years.

I would like to start with, wow, this is the most unusual car I have ever owned. It is/was so high tech for 1972, like a space age car and actually still feels that way. I don’t know much about these, please feel free to ask questions or even educate me. I bought this recently from the family of a gentleman who recently passed. He has owned this Citroen SM for 20 years. This car is/was still registered and driven on a regular basis with its scheduled professional maintenance always done.

This car runs and drives great and everything works as it should. The car is absolutely rust free and the body is straight as a arrow. Paint looks great but does have a few very minor flaws. It has, I believe, a hydraulic suspension and return to center steering set up so it took a bit to get use to driving it, but I quickly adapted and it really is a fun car. It has new 4 way disc brakes, so it stops great, ice cold air, power windows, tilt and telescoping wheel, basically all the goodies. Itwas considered a sport, luxury car back in the day.

The motor had a major overhaul when it had 72K miles, it now has 89K. The transmission was recently rebuilt, it had a recent repaint in its original color, new Pirelli tires, all of the suspension spheres were rebuilt in 2009, new water pump and starter in 2013 and a new stainless exhaust, a/c unit rebuilt. I have three binders full of receipts and information about this car. Very informative and interesting. The guy filed everything in plastic sleeves in binders. The car sinks to its low ride height over night then comes right back up when started. I don't know if that is normal or not, I think it is. There is a shift type lever next to the drivers seat with 4 positions which set the ride height and I guess the ride type also. One position drops her down. I have it in the upper most setting so that may be why.

The only few negative things that I have noticed are, the pass seat was recovered and the color is a bit off, the drivers power window is a bit slow but does work, no antenna or radio, driver’s seat is original and has a few tears but it’s a nice leather interior overall. I have a real sheep skin seat cover for the drivers seat. Took it off for pics. That's it.

Here is a chance to own something different. I’ve done some homework and there is quite a following for these and the prices are all over the place, so I’m going to list it with a verylow reserve and see what it does. Again, this car runs and drives great, get in and go anywhere.

I am attaching a link to a video so you can hear it running and get a good feel for it.
