1961 Chrysler Imperial Custom Additional Info:

1961 Imperial Custom Southampton (4 door hardtop) 1 of 4129 built. 413 V8 350 horsepower, Torque-Flyte transmission. Equipped with power windows, power front seat, radio, dual exterior mirrors, Flyte Sweep trunk lid, and the optional rocker & wheel well opening trim.
Original, complete, rust free Western car (from Montana). The only part missing is the hubcaps which are available here on Ebay pretty regularly. Car is probably the greatest color for one of these Imperial-- factory "Coronation Red" with black/ white interior. Very flashy, even in it's faded state. Never been painted or apart, all original car, that needs to be fully restored. Could not ask for a much better restoration candidate. The only rust on the entire car is a small spot on the DR rear floor pan, about the size of a few fingers. Solid, clean, straight car.Chrome is nice, as nice as you can ask for for a car this old, some is so nice it doesn't need to be re-plated. Some is dull, like front and rear bumpers, but excellent cores. I have the missing rear bumper guard piece. 1 piece of quarter trim (the passenger side piece) has a few screw holes. One grille half has a piece out of it, I MIGHT have that part, I have to check, will include if I do. (the grille is 2 piece so possible just to replace that one side), the IMP piece below the trunk has a crack (it's a 3 piece trim, left side one has a crack).
The windshield is cracked, new ones are about $350. The rest of the glass is fine.
The car runs, I fired it up without much difficulty. (it has a starter button wired under the hood). However the carb really needs to be rebuilt, gas pours out of the carb, the gaskets are bad. So I only ran it for about 30 seconds at a time, but it runs good and sounds good. Below is a link to a video of it running. The fuel pump is new, I replaced it. With a rebuilt carb it should fire right up. Obviously needs a tune up, belts, hoses-- the typical things. I ran it off a gas can, gas tank needs to be flushed.
It has no brakes, so no, you cannot drive it.
Interior is all complete, nothing missing. The horn ring is broken, I am including a replacement. The dash pad has cracks. The rear door panels are rough (the rust you see is the doorpanel, NOT the door, so I am including better ones, for both rear doors. They are the same style and color, I parted out a very similar car. They still need to be recovered but are a lot better than the ones on the car. Other than that everything is in good restorable condition inside the car. All needs to be redone but no "junk"
I have keys for it. Car is titled and insured in my name. I don't know if the mileage is original or if the odometer has been around once. I got no history on the car when I bought it.
If you are looking for one of these to restore, you won't find a better one.... I have way too many cars to fix them all, and I am selling off some of my "collection", in order to maintain my sanity :) Car is stored safe and dry inside now. It can stay where it is for as long as you want if you pay the $65 a month storage. Otherwise, it must be removed within 2 weeks.
If you have questions, my Cell: 847-707-8312, leave a message if I don't pick up.
