1959 Chrysler Imperial Additional Info:

This 1959 Imperial was purchased new at J Truett Payne Imperial Chrysler Plymouth in Birmingham, Alabama. I purchased it from the original owner's brother in May of 1998, and drove it 225 miles home to Mississippi. It has been a southern car all of it's life. It was garage kept when I bought it, and has always been undercover since I've owned it. The rust is very minimal, and is shown in the pictures. The 413 engine runs smooth and quiet and the torqueflite transmission shifts well. The radio, lights, turn signals, etc., are all in working condition. The power windows do work but sometimes need manual help. Power seat works. Factory air conditioning will work when charged, but freon leaks out in about 2 weeks because the compressor needs a front seal. Tires including the spare were replaced in 2013 with correct US Royal 8.20 15's from Coker tire and have less than 250 miles on them. Some of the work from 1998 to 2004 includes recored radiator, rebuilt fuel pump, all new brakes (wheel cylinders, brake hoses, relined brake shoes, master cylinder), rebuilt starter, rebuilt generator and voltage regulator, rebuilt centerlink and Idler arm bushing. The car hasn't been driven since 2016 due to fuel tank issues so i recently replaced the fuel tank and sending unit with correct reproductions, and it's running great. Over the years I have driven it to Birmingham Alabama, Gulf Shores Alabama, Gulfport Mississippi, and other trips to car shows and Imperial meets. This car has never been restored....the engine and transmission are original, interior is mostly original.....the car needs interior work, cosmetics, and to be repainted.
