1973 Chrysler Imperial Additional Info:

After successfully selling 2 of my classic cars on eBay (with 2 happy buyers), I am going to offer my 1973 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron 2-door for sale…..

Only 2,563 of these 2-door Imperials were made in 1973. Who knows how many of those remain in good running condition. This is a rare one of those. If you’re a fan of the TV series Fargo, you can see a 1973 2-door Imperial that is featured fairly prominently in a few episodes of the most recent season. It is almost the exact color as this car, but with a lighter color top/interior. In any event, you can be assured that you won’t likely be running into another one of these cars on the road…

I pride myself on being 100% transparent on all items I sell, so below is an honest description of ALL issues I know about this car. Other sellers may choose to not disclose everything, or try to hide something by doing a temporary fix, but that’s not how I do business. I want the buyer to have no surprises. Most of the items detailed below are minor fixes and are aesthetic in nature. This car can confidently be (and has been) driven as-is.

Please understand that I’m not a mechanic, nor a body/detail guy, so you’re getting a description from a layman in layman terms, but I’ll be as accurate as possible. Also, I’m not a professional photographer (I took all photos with my iPhone) but let me know if you need to see something better or something else not shown and I’ll try to get a clean shot of it.

This car has just under 66,000 actual original miles – documented on the title. It runs and drives great. Floats down the road and handles turns amazingly well for a car of this size (19+ feet long).

When I bought it I had the entire brake system replaced (master cylinder, booster, pads, calipers, drums, lines, etc.) It now stops better than my 2009 daily driver! I also had a new gas tank installed and a new alternator installed. I have receipts for all mechanic work done work. I personally replaced all belts and the AC clutch.

It has the original tan vinyl top. There is some bubbling at base and sides of rear window – see photos. Other than that, the top is in great shape.

It has the original Dark Gold Metallic (code #AY70JY9) paint - looks like more of a metallic copper color to me. It is in great shape for its age. Straight body and only a few spots of minor surface rust, but no holes – most at bottom of door, see photo. Most spots have been touched up with a rust-stop treatment and touch-up paint. Only one or 2 nicks/door dings – see last photo of one, just below the door keyhole.

Servo (A/C) unit had a leak which I patched. It does not leak now, but I am not sure the A/C functions properly. If you would want to replace the unit, replacements with a metal base are available for around $400. (The original units were plastic and are notorious for cracking and leaking.)

Sometimes the car takes a while to start when cold (by “cold” I mean after it’s been sitting a while). Once the car is warm, it fires right up with a turn of the key. Once warmed up and on the road, it drives like a dream and shifts and accelerates smoothly.

The interior is in amazingly good condition – all leather in great shape with no rips or tears. See photos. The dash is in great shape – no cracks. The headliner is dirty and has a hole in it (see photo) from a mouse entry years ago (per the prior owner). Luckily, the hole is almost entirely covered by the sun visor when it’s in the up position.

Cruise control does not work.

Rim-blow horn not working.

Power antenna does not work. I keep it in the up position and radio/reception works fine.

The “digital” clock works!

All power windows work, but passenger’s can be finicky.

Fuel gauge reads lower than actual. When the tank is full, it reads between 1/4 and 1/2.

From what I know, I am the 3rd owner. The prior owner’s family bought the car used when it was just a few years old. They kept it until I bought it at their estate sale in September of 2015. It had 65,424 miles on it when I bought it. I’ve only put about 500 miles on the car.

Clear title, registered in PA as antique vehicle.

I have always used non-ethanol gas.

I removed the front “bumperettes” – the small vertical bumper guards attached to fender. I like the cleaner lines on the front grill/fender without them. They are in the trunk (see photo) if you’d like to reattach them – very easy to bolt back on. You can also see 2 service manuals for this car in the trunk - they are included with the sale.

If you are local (I’m located about 40 minutes south of Lancaster, PA), you are more than welcome to come see the car in person (BEFORE you offer/buy, please). Alternatively, I’d be happy to drive the car to a local-to-me mechanic of your choice to have them check it out (BEFORE you offer/buy, please). I do reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell the car locally.

The logistics and cost of shipping prevent any type of return/refund, so the car is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty or guarantee or return.

I would be happy to assist your shipper to help ship this car anywhere in the world (I know how much these cars are loved outside the U.S.) but in all cases, funds must clear my bank before I will let the car and title leave my possession. The arrangements and costs for shipping are the responsibility of the buyer. If you plan to offer/buy, please have your money in order - I do not offer financing/payments. Please don’t try to obtain financing afterwards, and please don’t offer a trade.

Please offer/buy only if you intend to complete the purchase. $500 paypal deposit due upon winning bid, and balance due (cash or certified check) within 7 days - funds must clear before car/title ships/leaves. Thanks for looking and good luck!
