1970 Chevrolet El Camino Additional Info:

I have owned this carsince 2006and have rebuilt nearly every mechanical item I can think of. This is an original SS model with an engine and transmission swap (Not numbers matching). Engine is a 1968 Corvette IL code 427 390 horse with a Hydraulic cam, Cast Iron block and heads with Pink racing Rods. Exhaust is 1 7/8"header tubes with 3"X pipes to flow Master 50 series with turn outs behind rear wheels. Transmission is a worked over 700R4 capable of handling 500 HP and 500 FT LBS Torque done by Bowtie Overdrives in Hesperia California with a 2500 Stall torque converter.Factory A/C works, power steering and power brakes work perfectly. Paint was sprayed 2 years ago with all signs of body rust properly addresses and the bed redone. Interiorwas redone and is in great condition. This is not a car I am flipping to make some cash on, its just time for someone with admiration for the model to continue to enjoy and take care of. She runs great and will provide the right buyer years of enjoyment and compliments. Dash cluster and gauges have been replaced including speedometer and odometer, clock works. Mileage listed is miles since work was done back in 2010. Not many miles on rebuilt engine and trans. I have original factory protecto plate and registration paperwork from first owner. Car has always been in California and has original black plates from the original registration card. E mail with any questions.
In order to clarify theclaim of the car being an SS option car from the factory. The build sheet is not with the car so there is no paperwork that states beyond a reasonable doubt that the cars is an original SS. In 1970 the vin numbers did not provide the info either. For the guy that knows the model here is what the protecto plate decodes the options as.
1) Car left the Van Nuys California plant as a 396 350 HP car. Actually considered to be a 402. No longer in the car2) power brakes, Power steering, AC were factory installed3) turbo 400 Trans which only was in a big block car. No longer in the car4)12 bolt posi w/3.31 gearsonce again a big block option5) Front Disk brakesNote : The Turbo 400 Electric kick down switch is still mounted under the dash
My research has told me that a 1970El Camino that left the factory with the 396 350 HP option and a turbo 400was a super sport. The small block 350 optioned models were not a super sportDecoding can be done on the Chevellstuff.net website, as well as many others I'm sure. I have used this website to perform my ownresearch. If you are interested in the car and are willing to decode the plate send your contact info for the plate numbers and a clear photo of the plate that matches the Vin Number listed in this listing.
