1987 Chevrolet El Camino Choo-Choo SS Additional Info:

In the 1980s Choo-Choo Customs did exactly what we all wished the factory would have. They took the stock El Camino and made it better. Now this 1987 El Camino SS took that same spirit by preserving the right Choo-Choo and upgrading in the best places, including a 383 V8 stroker motor. So this is like buying a double-custom classic for one very affordable price. There's a pretty good reason why you might not have heard about a Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS. They were rare. Less than 5,000 were produced over a five-year period, and there were only 850 others made in 1987. But more than just rarity, the cool factor on this is elevated because it's a GM-backed custom build. We all think utilizing the NASCAR-inspired aerodynamics of the Monte Carlo SS would be a no brainier on the similar El Camino, but instead Chevy sent production to be hand completed at Choo-Choo's facility before being sold through GM's dealers. The Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS package included the aerodynamic front, special designer series door handle inserts, sport mirrors, and cool SS badging on every side. But even if you didn't know how special this vehicle was, you'd find it quite attractive. Its correct white paint has a level of preservation that tells you it has always been a cared for classic. It stands out in a crowd with the right kind of upgrades that range from the American flag on the folding bed cover, to the chrome wheels that hint at the iconic Chevy Rally units but have far more shine.A stock El Camino interior like this one is a great place to spend some time. After all, the sedan origins of this pickup are especially felt in this premium and comfortable interior. You have the choice of seating three people across the split bench, or just fold down the armrest for individual comfort. The blue cloth on the seat matches the door panels, carpeting, and dash for a true uniform factory appearance. These were premium vehicles on the Chevy lot, and so this is loaded with features like power windows, tilt wheel, electric rear defogger, cruise control, and the original AM/FM/cassette stereo. The ice-cold air conditioning is running modern R134a for easy servicing. You'll slip behind the original El Camino wheel and enjoy the original full set of round gauges, including working clock. Yes, this is truly a wonderfully preserved interior. You might want to gab your sunglasses before looking under the hood. Just about every component that could be polished was, including the air cleaner, valve covers, alternator, compressor, and pulleys. But beyond the shine is some serious performance substance. That's a 383 cubic-inch stroker motor with a four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and long tube headers. This performance package gives you an extra wallop of power on demand and a sweet rumble out of the dual exhaust. It feels great on the road thanks to an upgraded rear suspension, power steering, and front disc brakes. In fact, this custom was built for true everyday comfort that's why you have a four-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive, aluminum radiator, and electric fan. So no matter if you're cruising the highway or maneuvering urban traffic with the A/C cranked, this custom El Camino is designed to stay running cool. Complete with owner's manual, it turns out you don't have to spend a whole lot to get a rare and interesting classic. You just have to know where to look and be quick enough to snatch this one up.
