1940 Chevrolet

Special Deluxe Coupe

Street Rod

"New for 1940 was the Special Deluxe. More sumptuously appointed than any previous Chevrolet, it was distinguished by stainless steel hood and beltline trim along with such amenities as dual wipers, dual air horns, a 30-hour dashboard clock, and a deluxe steering wheel with horn ring. Perhaps surprisingly, the newcomer proved to be, by a wide margin, Chevy's best-seller."

For sale by owner is this beautiful 1940 Chevy street rod. Professionally body off restored to be a show car and completed in the mid 80's (with some mechanical & cosmetic improvements over the years) this car was featured in a 1986 issue of Super Hot Rods & Customs magazine. The current owner purchased the car from the gentleman that did the restoration and the information provided is somewhat limited. What follows is what we do know. The car was resurrected after being stored for many years after it was used for drag racing. The body is all steel with new old stock fenders used during the build. The body was painted Wheatland yellow with 4 color custom flames and hand painted pin striping. The engine is a bored out Chevy 283 with a 4 bbl Holley Carburetor and a mild cam. Power flows through a Turbo Hydromatic 400 3-speed automatic and a limited slip rear end. The front end is from a '54 Chevy and it has front disc brakes.

If you have been looking for a very nice Chevy Street Rod to take to the local car shows, this is it! While this is no longer a #1 car, it still shows well and attracts attention wherever it goes.

Please remember that this is an older build and not perfect. The paint has some visible stone chips in front and the A/C is inoperable.
