1974 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

It's a great trip. Getting to know a Corvette has got to be one of the great pleasures in life." 1974 Corvette sales brochure.

For consignment and your visual pleasuring, a 1974 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. Due to federal safety regs moving up to the 5MPH crash bumper, the rear became rounded and rubberized just like the front to meet the regs. Sans chrome bumpers, this car presents nicely, particularly with its contrasting white top in convertible form.

Exterior
Mille Miglia Red, good condition fiberglass on this sleek design version. All rounded corners, hidden headlights, and a swept back windshield add to its sporty charm. This model is equipped with a white canvas convertible with a glass rear window. Some slight mold has started to encroach on the canvas. Some slight tears around the window surrounds are seen as well. A stainless rocker trim adds some interest to the bottom of the car and actually gives the appearance it is lower to the ground, and at first fools the eye into thinking there may be a hint of side pipes. Also, in the trunk deck lid is a chromed luggage rack. Rally wheels are wrapped in raised white letter Goodyear Eagle GT2 rubber.

Interior
Deep red textured vinyl inserts for the inserts on the high backed one piece buckets, with smooth exterior bolsters outside the red piping border. Some wear is noted on the seats, but no rips or tears. A center console runs up the center of the cockpit, has a central padded armrest in red vinyl, and a molded plastic deep red hump surround that houses the handbrake, power window toggles, shift lever ashtray with lighter, and air and temp controls. As it makes its way up to the dash at a very steep angle, a black insert houses a cluster of 5 gauges, some warning lights and a Kenwood AM/FM/cassette player. On top near the dash top is the wiper switch. The remainder of the dash is deep red with deeply inserted round gauges in blackface and white numbers and letters. An original steering wheel wrapped in black fronts this angled dash. Below is faded red carpet for the driver's floor, and rear storage area, and on the passenger's side is a new deep red carpet. On either side door panels look good, and shiny lock knobs and door actuator lever are slightly worn off black paint.

Drivetrain
An unrestored engine bay houses the numbers matching L48 350ci V8. A single Quadrajet carburetor in 4-barrel form sits atop under an open dish style air cleaner black. The intake manifold and block are nice orange, and shiny chromed valve covers are on either side. In back a TH400 3-speed automatic and a 3.36 rear axle is on this car and is original with the car.

Undercarriage
Some surface rust, some rattle can spray paint, particularly on the mufflers where unfortunately it does not cover the hole that is in both of them. Floorpans are worn fiberglass but still sturdy, and the frame has some surface rust. Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners and on back is the C3 Corvette Suspension.

Drive-Ability
This car started quickly and ran smoothly. It runs as it should and handles like a 1974 Corvette. I noticed the horn is inoperable, and the passenger headlight will not rise to the occasion when you pull the knob.

A 100K mile car, and in good condition, slightly worn, and overall good. Nice design for these mid 70's years and mostly due to the feds mandating the 5MPH bumpers. A convertible in contrasting white...A little red Corvette, I guess I should have known by the way you park your car sideways.
