1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Additional Info:

Up for auction is this 1966 Chevelle SS 396 2-dr Hardtop. This is a 2 owner car bought new in Kansasand has been off the road and stored since the early 90's. 396 engine with Powerglide transmission. It is currently not running but the engine appears to be clean and mostly complete (missing A/C compressor & driveshaft).It has Factory A/C and Power Steering. The hood and left front fender have been replaced and some time - hood is rough but has good SS scoops - LF fender is from a Malibu that has had the trim holes welded up. All other sheetmetal is original to the car. Inner fenders have been removed but are included (sitting in back seat). There is rust in the floors & trunk - some spots in the lower front fenders, drivers door and lower quarters. The front and rear windshield openings appear to be good & solid. Nice trunk lid. Car needs complete restoration - rolls and steers, tires hold air. Comes with clear Kansas title, original books & Protecto-Plate.

The numbers on the passenger front engine block deck are T1216IVR6R152413, Cylinder heads are 3856206, Intake is 3866948.

Original air cleaner & steering wheel are included and in the trunk. Have original keys for the doors, trunk & ignition.

Chevellestuff.net has a engine suffix decoder that breaks this engine down as: T=Tonawanda, 12=December, 16= Day of Month, IVR = '66 396/325 TH400 B (Pass Car) Rochester Carb, 6R 152413

I still can't say for sure it is the engine the car came with from the factory but it does look to be a possibility. If any Chevelle experts have any insight, it would be helpful to answer questions. Due your own diligence & check your own sources - I will help get any info & photos you need.
