Beautiful and Rare - All Steel 1946 Chevy 3100 Pickup. Almost everything is new! All steel panels are original with the exception of running boards, bed front, tailgate and chin valance, all of which are quality steel replacements – no fiberglass anywhere. Panel and door alignment is excellent. This truck has just the right mix of performance and drivability and is perfect for local shows and long distance cruising.
Here is a list of the highlights:

I bought this truck as an unfinished project from a friend who owns a body shop and has built award winning Chevy trucks. I decided to take the project to the next level since the body was in such great shape. The frame is finished in gloss black epoxy with a Mustang II front end and GM 10 bolt rear with multi-leaf springs
The all steel body is put together right with stainless steel fasteners throughout. There are a few things still to do to make the truck 100% complete. It is very drivable as is and runs great. I have an estimate from a local interior shop to finish the door panels and cab panels, build a valance for the ac vents and controls, and install carpet for about $3,000. I have other estimates above and below that, so this should be a good ballpark. The carpet in the pictures is a floor mat I cut and installed to protect the sound mat and radiant barrier insulation installed on the floor. I have a Rod Doors interior panel kit that will come with the truck that includes the hard panels that get covered, arm rests and an overhead console. The A pillar and door frame interior trim pieces are painted to match the truck. The original steel rear cab interior panel and wiper motor interior cover are both in good shape and ready for interior finish.
The power door locks are installed and working but I haven’t installed the poppers yet. I wanted to wait until the door weather strip/interior is installed to see if they are needed. I have all the weather strip needed to finish the truck. The horn and horn button are not installed. The ac ducts will need to be installed when the interior is done.
There is no emergency brake. The hidden tailgate (support) hinges look like they might rub the bed sides, so I have them taped over and not attached to the bed sides. The main tailgate hinges and latches are installed and working, so the tailgate can still go up and down. The passenger side mirror is cracked from getting bumped before it was installed. The wiper motor is installed and works well. I don’t keep the wiper arms and blades installed since the truck is never driven in the rain. They come with the truck, but Rain-X does the job.The paint looks great and there is no body damage, dings or scars. It’s not a 100 point truck, but it really does look good and draws tons of attention and compliments. The paint has not been cut and buffed, so if that’s important to you, doing that would add more depth and shine. It has four coats of clear, so there is plenty there to buff.
The truck starts and runs great. The cam gives it just enough lope at idle to make it sound impressive, but doesn’t sacrifice vacuum or drivability. It has a 2.73 gear which works well with the 700r4 as a daily driver and excels at highway cruising. The 4 wheel discs stop well and don’t pull to either side. The tires are not new, but have plenty of tread life left. Headlights, taillights, blinkers and gauge lights work properly.
I hadn’t planned on selling this truck, but my wife and I have decided to travel for a while and I don’t have a good place to store it. I have 100% positive feedback on Ebay and want to keep it that way. I’ve disclosed everything I can think of to help you accurately value the truck. Again, it’s not perfect, but it’s much better than average and falls somewhere between excellent driver quality and all-out show truck.
I will gladly talk to you about any details related to the truck to help answer any questions you have.
I know the value of the truck, so even if you decide to finish the interior and the few remaining items, there is still money left on the table for you at my price.
2-1/2" tailpipes have been added and the AC has been completed since the pictures were taken.I strongly encourage in-person inspections.
I will assist your shipper with loading on my end, but you will need to arrange shipping.
Any bids with less than 10 positive feedback will be deleted.
