1937 Chevrolet Other Pickups RESTORED ORIGINAL PICKUP MASTER DELUXE Additional Info:

DESCRIPTION: 1937 Chevrolet Master pickup which had a total & documented “frame off” restoration which started in the late 1990’s and completed in 2002 by the present owner. Approximately 24,000 miles have been logged on the Pickup since its completion. It does get driven on nice days and the 20-year paint job is showing some chips and stone cracks in the fenders, but no dents or rust (see photos). Everything works including turn signals, electric wipers, and ‘tip-out’ windshield. Fit and finish are good.

This ’37 has always been garaged and well maintained (records included) since it was finished and driven on several long trips (over 1000 miles) without any issues. The original rebuilt 216 c.i. 6-cylinder and 3-speed transmission easily maintains 52 mph without any issues and the added “3-point” seat belts give you the comfort and safety of a present-day pickup. The Pickup draws attention everywhere it goes.

SPECIFICS OF BUILD:

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Original 216 c.i. I-6 completely rebuilt with new internals (pistons, rods, crank) and gaskets.

1940’s style Carter carburetor

Fuel system was flushed

New aluminum radiator

12-volt electrical system w/6-volt starter

New wiring harness

Battery relocated to wooden box in bed.

NOTE: in 1937 many vehicles did NOT have oil filters on the engines, and this Pickup still does not. Oil changed every 1000 miles and uses a non-detergent W30 oil w/ZDDP lube added.

Rebuilt 3-speed transmission w/new clutch pack

CHASSIS & SUSPENSION

Original frame sandblasted

New hardware for springs front and rear

Rebuilt differential

New brakes and hardware (drum)

Original ‘manual’ steering rebuilt

Tires are 215 x 85R x 16 radials

BODY & PAINT

STEEL cab & bed which were sandblasted, primed, and painted in a single stage PPG urethane.

New wood inserts in bed

Fiberglass fenders and running boards treated w/Rhinoliner on the underside to prevent stone chips and cracks.

New glass throughout w/ ‘tip-out’ front windshield

Electric wipers

Extra rear brake light added, because in ’37 they only had one.

High intensity headlights

Turn signals

New grill

INTERIOR

Gauges were refinished and function normally

New upholstery and headliner

3-point seatbelts

Original heater (option in 1937)
