1972 Chevrolet Impala Additional Info:

1972 Chevy Impala 4 Door Sedan

I purchased this thing from the 2nd(?) owner in GA. I bought it sight-unseen. It has 61,XXX original miles on it. It appears to have spent most of its life outside in the south but has been garaged since I have owned it and never driven in bad weather.

Automatic, AC (all there but inop), 350CI 2 barrel.

Body/Exterior: It has been painted at some point and was a fair job at best. Has some surface rust spots in a few places. I had the front and rear glass resealed, fixed rust holes under the rear glass on both sides and painted (single stage Nason) the rear glass area, filler panel, trunk jam and some parts of the door jams. New trunk weatherstrip. The bottoms of the fenders have some rust starting, no other rust anywhere that I see. The paint on the hood is very bad. I blasted and painted the wheels and added the hubcaps you see.

Interior: Was in very bad shape when I got it. Had the seats recovered very close to factory($1000.00), new carpet, headliner, package tray and I added the rear defrost fan assembly. The dash pad came from Indiana and has zero cracks, doses have some scratches. It is supposed to be brown but the black looked fine so I didn’t paint it. The lower front door panels are from another car and were sprayed with Dupont Vinyl. Also stripped and repainted the metal headliner trim. The rear glass side interior trip is originally plastic and impossible to find in decent shape so I took the metal trim form a hard top and modified it so it looks factory. These will never warp or crack. Original AM radio, does not work. The steering wheel is also very nice and from a 1973 I believe.

Chassis/Drivetrain: Is mostly untouched with zero corrosion issues. I added a rear sway bar with the correct lower control arms. The rear was an open unit and @2:73(?) ratio.I changed the gears to 3:08 and added a factory posi unit. I also changed the speedometer drive gear to match the rear gears. The engine is untouched but the PO said he put a timing chain in it. It runs flawlessly once its warm. Little cold natured (choke inop) for a short period. The transmission was overhauled by Deltrans in northern Delaware.Works perfect. I added factory dual exhaust and it is a super nice job made from original bend-cards. Sounds good, not loud.

Summary: This is a survivor and a lot of fun to drive, runs and drives great. There are not many of these cars left in especially inthis condition. It gets lots of attention.

Additional Parts: I have a tilt column for this thing I never installed, a used super low mileage non-tilt column, some NOS weather stripping for the side doors, lots of spare dash parts and lower door panels, seatbelts, sill plates, and one super nice driver side main dash unit (large plastic). NOS front tag bracket, NOS rear bumper guards. The lower door panels will go with the car, nothing else does but we can come to an agreement.
