1981 Chevrolet Corvette CONSIGNMENT SALE 30,190 Miles From New Black on Black Cloth VIN: 1G1AY8767BS430825 1: US Built G: General Motors 1: Chevrolet A: Manual Seatbelts Y: Corvette 87: 2dr Coupe 6: 5.7L 4BBL Engine (350ci L81 V8) 7: Check Digit B: 1981 Model Year S: St Louis Assembly Plant 430825: Production Numbers Build Date: 07/1981 Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up and under direct sunlight. - Black paint is in excellent condition and is presumed original. Black has a nice... glassy finish, not swirly like we so often see on black cars. There are a couple light scratches in the center of the rear (between the taillights), but aside from that the only cosmetic blemishes are a couple very minor chips. No scuffs, scratches, cracking, or other damage. Condition is consistent with a very well-taken-care-of, adult-owned, 30k-mile example. - Lights and signals are functional inside and out. There is a crack on the passenger’s side of the windshield, see the video for a close-up of that. - Panel fitment is spot on. Doors open and close nice and smoothly. - Wheels are in excellent shape, free of oxidation or curb rash. BFG Radial TAs are in good condition, with no dryness or significant wear, but since we are unsure of their exact age we would recommend replacing sooner rather than later. - Bumpers are very nice, not wavy and ill-fitting like we sometimes see on these cars. - Cragar rear window louver is in excellent shape, not cracked or dry at all. Interior: - Again, please defer to the photos and video. Interior is in impressive shape. Very, very clean. Black cloth is free of any punctures, fraying, scuffs, or other damage. Nothing more than very light general aging. Black vinyl door panels are free of any kicked-open markings or damaged armrests. Power windows and locks are functional. Pioneer radio, while it does power on and seemingly function as it should, only plays quiet static. We think this is an issue with the speakers, not the radio itself. Power antenna does go up and down. R12 air conditioning is not functional – compressor kicks on but does not blow cold. We have not vacuum tested it so we cannot be sure that it would hold a charge of R12 refrigerant. Fan is functional. Odometer is functional and reading of 30,187 miles is believed to be accurate. Dash top is mint. No cracks, warping, or noteworthy signs of age. Gauges are nice and clear, not fogged or scratched up. Black carpet isn’t sun-faded or fraying, very nice throughout. Seatbelts are shoulder belts, not lap belts. The car does give a beeeeeeep seatbelt warning noise until it is buckled. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. The underbody is quite good. Absolutely no through rust or damage, nothing more than minor surface rust on exhaust and suspension components. Car has been garage-kept and adult-owned. - The car runs and drives very well. It fires right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls through the gears without hesitation, shifts smoothly and on time, and brakes straight and effectively. No suspension rattles or clanks, no other concerning or out-of-the-ordinary tendencies. The car tracks straight down the road, doesn’t wander. As it sits now, this car is ready to be used and enjoyed. With any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing, please reach out to Jake at 773-273-8257.
