1979 Chevrolet Corvette Additional Info:

Up for sale is my beautiful 1979 Chevrolet Corvette . An injury at work and recent surgery forces sale. I'll be out of work for several months and could use the money from this sale. Here is my completely honest evaluation of the car. I absolutely encourage you to check out and drive before buying. If you have a repair shop in my area, I can arrange to meet you for a thorough inspection. I purchased the car in February of 2018 from a classic car dealer in Ohio, who gave the car an exam proving matching numbers and overall condition. Owner before me was the second owner and had it since 1988. I'll share the details below. I did not confirm any of his info because I was never all too concerned about originality, though I know it is important to many vette owners. This dealer has a great reputation from many ebay sales and previous buyers. Since then, the car has been covered in my attached garage, never seeing rain or foul weather and driven about 1300 miles with the tops off and windows down. Hagertys Buyers Guide lists this car with a resale of around $13,500. This vette is a head turner and nothing but fun to drive.Basic summary of details from the classic car dealer I bought it from:
Numbers matching, outstanding original condition, excellent driver, solid lines, no rust issues. Excellent driverFrost blue exterior, navy interior is very rare and beautiful. All numbers match including engine, transmission, windows, carburetor, starter and alternator. Engine and tranny assembly dates were also verified.I can scan and email the complete report if you like. It is very in depth.
Premium options:
Power windows and door locks, air conditioning (in tact but not working), Gymkhana high performance suspension, tilt/telescopic steering, aluminum wheels, heavy duty 2 and 3/4" radiator (car runs very cool even in the heat of summer - very rare for a vette).
New parts since I've owned it:
Tune up March 2018 - platinum plugs, all filters, pcv- New Delco fuel pump, rear shocks, upper & lower hoses- New battery- New heavy duty brass radiator - 2 & 3/4" core- New American made master parking brake kit - all new cables, hardware and shoes (from Ecklers Corvette supply)- New American made power steering control valve, power cylinder, sway bar links and all 4 hoses (Ecklers)
In an effort to be completely honest, here are further facts about the car:
- Small puff of smoke from valve stem seals upon cold start only, not resulting in any measurable loss of motor oil throughout a full year - there is not a single 40 year old Chevy small block on the road that doesn't have this condition.- Paint - original condition, nice, bright shine, several nicks have been touched up, average bumper fade front & rear with some light flaking at left inner tail light (see photo). Overall - very good, original condition.- Tires - Like new. Proper size P225/70R15- Interior - Seats recently redone. Flawless, perfect condition. Dash - no cracks or discoloring. Glass - no cracks or chips- Carpet - good condition with signs of wear under corner of left floor mat - not ordinarily visible- Leaks - none- Engine - fine condition No knocks, pings etc. Clean engine compartment. All emission equipment is in working order- Lights - fine working condition- Brakes - fine working condition. Pads like new- Chassis - no rust, solid as new- Exhaust - mufflers look to be recently replaced, rest of system looks original, but tight
What doesn't work:- the clock - all other gauges and instruments are fine- the a/c - as mentioned before. All components are in place, but no cold air- the heat - I bypassed the leaking heater core at the control valve. Never needed heat because it was my good weather car- the power antenna - it's now a manual antenna. I pull it up and push it down- windshield washer pump
What you should know:
- original radio sounds crappy, but again, some people love "original" over functional when it comes to Corvettes- factory weatherstripping is worn - again, not a factor for me. The car never saw a raindrop and I hand washed it
In summary, this is a very original, fun, head turning vehicle. I'm a 57 year old guy who had great fun owning it but circumstances are forcing a sale. I've treated and drove this car like it was my baby and I'm sure the next owner will enjoy it. I'm pricing it very fairly because I'm leaving plenty of room for the new owner to repair the heat and a/c if he or she so chooses. Again, even though I am going overboard in the interest of being honest, I strongly suggest driving and checking the car out in person. If you have access to a shop near me - even better. The car is sold "as is" with no expressed or implied warranty or guarantee.
