1972 Chevrolet C10 Pickup Additional Info:

1972 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup

The model year 1960 brought the Chevrolet pickup into the modern era with its C/K series lineup. The "C" designation identified two-wheel-drive pickups, and the "K" identified 4X4s. The most common pickup was the C10, a half-ton truck with a 6.5- or 8-foot cargo box. The C/K series trucks remained essentially the same vehicle during a series of conservative redesigns, until 1997, when the 1998 Silverado replaced it.

Chevrolet produces some of the finest trucks on the planet and had been doing so for a long time. Within each model range their avid fans, and this 1972 iteration is no exception. Painstakingly and lovingly restored, the consigner states every mechanical component is new, and flipping the hood I would tend to agree. Modified definitely for the better, we have a winner! Bingo.

Exterior
Finished in a dark green respray, there are some waves in the bodywork, but the paint remains nice. On the bottom rear of each door, and on the rocker there is some underlying rust due to bubbling and paint chip off in these areas. Chrome is in overall good condition along with badging and trim. A powder coated chrome colored rear bumper replaces the original bumper. Spray textured bed liner covers the cargo bed and interior rear gate. Original restored 15" rally wheels are on all 4 corners.

Interior
A complete redo inside here with pristine door panels, nice door handles and cranks. Noted on the driver's side door where the upper door meets the panel, there is some rust remediation that has taken place with welding residue. Looking inside there is a new bench seat with cloth inserts and vinyl bolsters both in green. Consigner states a new factory dash gauge cluster has been installed, however gauges do not function because there are aftermarket gauges hanging below the dash that do function. An aftermarket Radio/CD player is installed into the freshly sprayed dash which matches the exterior. The glovebox door has been chromed, rubber floor mats are in very good condition, and headliner is also new. LED lighting has also been installed in the interior.

Drivetrain
Code V1027CPR gives us a 305ci V8 that came from the Flint engine plant in October 1977. This sits in a gleaming engine bay, very clean, nice orange painted block, and an Edelbrock intake and carburetor setup atop. A 4-speed manual transmission is attached to the back of this clean engine. A 12-bolt rear is also noted.

Undercarriage
The frame appears intact and strong. The forward body mounts have invasive rust damage and have been sprayed over. It appears there has been some repairs to the under side rocker panels in the form of a steel bracket welded in to this area. A new power front disc conversion sits beside new suspension up front. New brake lines are noted, as are new shocks, steering cross link and tie rods. Stainless steel headers work their way down to a glass pack style mufflers and dual exhaust.

Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and this engine comes to life with a throaty growl. Engaging 1st gear and we are off to the races, or rather the Classic Auto Mall acreage, where we can shift smoothly, no hesitation in the engine, and a typical truck ride. New interior proved to be comfortable.

Pretty much a total restoration with many new parts, surfaces and paint. Slightly concerning on the body hanger issue, and the noticeable rust on the doors near the bottom. Overall a nice job, and we have a truck available for the 72 era C-10 fans.
