1968 Chevrolet Other Additional Info:

This is a "Tribute" to the Chevy factory sleepers. The engine is an L72 427/425 hp. I acquired this engine in the fall of 2015 to replace the 454 that was in the car when I got it. It is a CE factory replacement 512 block with 4 bolt mains dated 1970. Crank and rods are forged factory pieces, pistons are .030 over forged, 11-1 compression. The cam is stock solid lifter correct for this engine. Heads are steel, rectangular port, closed chamber heads dated 1968. It has factory aluminum high rise intake with "Winters" stamp. Carb is a late model Holley 750 CFM 3310 with electric choke. I installed reproduction deep groove pulleys correct for an L72. The transmission is a Muncie M20 4 speed originally from a 1970 Nova. The rear end is a date correct 12 bolt with 3.73 gears and positraction. It may be original to the car and is stamped "DM" indicating 3.73 gear ratio.. Suspension has been updated with Monro-matic heavy duty shocks and Moog heavy duty rear springs. It has an original F41 rear sway bar. It has power steering and brakes have been converted to '69-'70 single piston front disk brakes, rear brakes are original style drum.
This is an original V8 car, I do not know much of its history, it has certainly spent time as a drag car. There are tow tabs welded to the frame; there are massive tubular upper control arms in the rear suspension; and there was a fuel cell in the trunk, since replaced with a new stock type tank. The battery is in the trunk with a disconnect switch. Odometer shows 79,xxx miles and I believe that is pretty close. I have found no rust or any evidence of accident damage. The body is very straight and has a quality BC/CC paint job matched to the original Grotto Blue. Paint is about 5 years old and has been well cared for. The chrome and trim are good quality. Interior is a mix of original and refinished items. The front seat is from a later model car. For safety, I have installed 3 point retracting belts.
My intent doing this car is a "Day 2" theme with typical mods that we did back in the day. It has Hooker headers, MSD billet HEI performance distributor, Sun Super Tach and a Hurst "Super Shifter." Exhaust is Pypes 2.5 inch with X pipe. It has a Kraco AM/FM 8 track unit that works. There are speakers under the rear package tray that work, but need to be replaced. Wheels are Chevrolet Rallyes with police caps, 15 x7 in front and 15 x 8 in back. Tires are Hankook 215/70-15 radials and BF Goodrich radial T/A 275/60-15.
Here is video I made a couple years ago. Nothing has changed on the car since then, except my license plate.

I am a private seller that acquired this car in 2015 to relive the memory of a real deal factory L72 Biscayne that I owned in 1971-72. I have enjoyed working on it and driving it, but have decided to pass it on to a new caretaker. It is a unique, fun, classic muscle car that you can drive and enjoy without worrying about hurting its value. I have driven it to events as far as 250 miles round trip. It drives smooth and straight, turns and stops as you would expect with a car of this vintage. When you take it to an event, it will be the only one like it; and it always draws people who will crack a smile when they realize what it is.

The car is offered with realistic reserve. It is for sale locally so the auction may be ended if it sells. Please contact me with questions or to arrange an inspection. Contact me for my phone number, I am happy to answer questions.

A quality car cover will be included with the sale.

On Aug-10-19 at 07:18:34 PDT, seller added the following information:

Several cases of 8 track tapes and a restored, correct brake booster to convert to power brakes will also be included.
