1965 Chevrolet Other Pickups -- Additional Info:

GENERAL: What we have here is an old survivor that came off a wheat farm in north central Montana, not far from the Canadian border. It is a 1965 Chevrolet K10, the 4X4 version. Its restoration has begun, and it needs someone to finish It. These are some of the most highly sought after early 4X4s, however, any more these trucks pretty much fall into two categories; the first being a non-running, missing major components, total basket case, the second is one which is already restored and well beyond most budgets. This one is the hard to find in between and is an interesting and excellent candidate for either restoration or it might make a rock crawler or some other form of hot rod, however if that is your intention, I do not want to hear about it.The truck does run and has a clear title in my name.

MECHANICAL: The truck is equipped with a 283 CID V8, 4 speed transmission and the Dana 44 4X4 set up. I did not realize how rare this truck is, until I embarked on a six month search for new lock out hubs, (see picture).. As my first objective was to get the truck runnin, I removed cleaned and sealed the gas tank, replaced the fuel pump and rebuilt the carburetor, and it started right up. Next, I spent over $3,000 in the drivetrain repair (receipts will accompany the truck), to include: rebuilt driveshafts front and rear, many new bearings, races, seals, carrier gear repair kits, differential bearings, and brake work. The brakes will need to be bled again and adjusted as some new wheel cylinders and shoes were installed. Beyond this description, I don't know much as I never insured it for the road, and have only yard driven it.

BODY: Fifty-four years of dents, dings, tares, welds, blemishes, minor rust and some great patina (see pictures) This is a look that some prefer these days, or if you are handy with body work go at it, however that would remove it from the "original survivor class" at any car show. The kindest thing that can be said about the tires is, they all hold air. Amazingly, most of the wood bed floor is still intact. I found a replacement tail gate to make the bed functional. However, I will include the original tailgate if you chose to go the survivor route, or you can use it to make a bench. The glass is intact, and only the windshield is cracked. Once the reserve is met, I have four reconditioned leaf springs that will accompany the truck. I also have a period correct spare wheel to include.

INTERIOR: Not much to talk about there. The seat is in good condition. Neither the doors nor the dash have been cut for some sort of sound system. The heater is inoperative and missing parts, some gages work, the lights do not. The interior of this truck is mostly all there. If you are going to show in the "original survivor class" just clean it up. If you are going for an original restoration, clean it, sand it and paint it. If you are going for a hot rod you probably have your own thoughts as to what you want to do.

Summary - The simplicity of a pickup is what makes their restoration so popular and easy. This one would make a great project for a father and son/daughter, the guys in the shop, or whatever. While this one will require some work, much of what needs to be done is that which one would normally do anyway in either a restoration or hot rod build. The main point is you have a solid, mostly rust free body, and clear title to work with. The old truck deserves another chance in life to show up at your local car show, cruise night, or for work with your business logo on the doors.

Payment, Disclaimers, Storage, and Transportation - I require a nonrefundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours and the remainder prior to me sending you the title. Well I have tried to represent the old truck as honestly and accurately as I can; please look closely at the pictures. Make no mistake, it is not currently a roadworthy vehicle, rather it is a project. The truck is sold as is, where is, and with no guarantee nor warrantee implied or specified. I am very proud of my 100% rating and will answer questions. I will post some of them so that others may benefit. Please if you have 0 or less than ten positive eBay transactions, contact me before bidding, so I can be sure of your sincerity and ability to pay, thank you. The truck is stored in a secure compound and can remain so, as long as you want, if you pay the rent of $50 per month. I do have a truck and trailer and can do a delivery within a reasonable distance of Helena, Montana; please Chicago, San Francisco and Aruba are not reasonable driving distances of Montana. If you send after it, I will help you with shipping in any way I can.

Good luck with your bidding, thank you for your interest.

Addendum as of 14 June: I have been asked repeatedly what my buy it now price is, and if I would end this listing early. I don't think we are supposed to do that, and it just is not fair to the people who are bidding. Thank you.
