1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS RPO L89 CONVERTIBLE 1 OF 1 Additional Info:

Own a part of first generation Camaro history that no one else has or will ever have, This is the only RPO L89 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS 396ci/375hp convertible known to exist, 1 of 1 documented with it's original protecto plate/owner history and recent NCRS report pictured, Note "MT" engine code which designates 396ci/375hp w/aluminum head option, I have the original owner's contact information who still lives in South Carolina where he bought this car new and I have recently been in contact with him., He purchased this car brandnew as soon as he returned home from Vietnam on September 1st of 1968, He took delivery on September 3rd 1968 which is documented on the protecto plate, This was a special ordered car from Palmetto Chevrolet Company in Conway South Carolina and the gentleman that originally ordered it was not able to complete the deal, It sat on the showroom floor for approx. 5 months before being sold, It was ash gold with black stripes/black rear body panel, black interior/black convertible top and had steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps, He has many interesting stories to tell about this car from 51 years ago, The 68 Camaro was the first Camaro to receive aluminum heads from the factory with only 272 1968 Camaro RPO L89 cars built and from my understanding while GM records are not exact it is estimated that only 6 L89 Camaro convertible's were ever produced in 1968, Of the six only 2 documented examples are known to exist, This is the 3rd and only one known equipped with the rallysport option (1 of 1) that has been tucked away for many years basically unheard of and unknown, Repainted many years ago to butternut yellow w/black stripes/black rear body panel, black convertible top and now has black and white houndstooth interior, I remember this car in the late 80's/early 90's sitting inside on the showroom floor of a small town Chevrolet dealership here in Tennessee, It wasn't for sale at the time just solely being used to draw attention which it did, Current engine is a killer sounding and running professionally built 475ci bigblock dynoed @ close to 620hp, Weiand aluminum "Stealth" intake, Holley 4bbl carburetor, MSD ignition, Ceramic coated big tube hooker headers w/complete 3" exhaust, Tremec 5 speed transmission, 12 bolt posi rearend with 3:73 gears, powersteering, front powerdisc brakes, console w/gauges, floorshift, manual convertible top, This thing is a beast, Runs, drives and sounds great, Drive anywhere, All lights/hideaway headlights work, Solid southern car, Never subjected to salty roads, Original floors, rockerpanels, trunk, quarterpanels, etc.. Garage kept/pampered, Rare/1 time opportunity to own one of the rarest if not the rarest first generation camaro to exist, You will not find another 1968 L89 rs/ss convertible period, Must see to appreciate, Bank wire transfer preferred for payment and/or cash as it is the quickest and safest method of payment for both the buyer and the seller, If you cannot follow our payment instructions please look elsewhere, Sold in as-is condition with a clean clear title and all of the documents pictured, Feel free to contact Paul @ 901-219-9569 with any questions, If no answer please leave a detailed message and I will return your call, Thanks again for looking and bidding.
